pb and sp2

Post by blueznl »

i would like to hear about other people's experience with sp2...

as a programming environment... (ie. where you code on)

and as a deployment environment... (ie. where your code runs on)

for me:

for coding i still use sp1

i've done some tests on sp2 but did not find serious troubles, although the user interface is sluggish (on low end systems) compared with sp1, dunno why... make sure you wipe the unneccessary stuff from your system afterwards, sp2 can eat up to 1.5 gb...

I find the only way to run with latest SP's is to install on a clean formatted drive with the SP already slipstreamed. I've always seem to have had problems putting SP's over the top of existing.

I have had NO problems on 4 different machines. I say go for it. If you are planing on updating Windows there is no better time then the present. Don't be scared.

I have installed SP2 on my main machine, and i have not had any issues with anything as of yet.

i will admit though, i have not done a huge amount with pb since i updated though.

but here's something to consider. All windowsXP machines that are online, will have SP2 installed within the next 6-8 months. So whether or not there is problems, we're probably better off finding them as soon as possible, rather than waiting until everyone has it.
