In summary:
In order to vote, you would need to log in with the Nickname (username, alias, whatever) that you use here and a password (but NOT the one you use here!).
No other info is required, but all voters will be checked to see if they posted within the month (so no stealing lapsed peeps Nicks to get an extra vote!). A bot will hit the forum to check this.
And no stealing OPs nicks!
Voting involves entering the Nickname of the User for each category, and in some cases another identifying field. Over the period of a month you can change your vote.
Several categories come to mind:
- Most helpful poster overall (User Nick)
... For the crew who cop it all and still come back to help us out.
Best Tip (User Nick and Topic Subject).
... For the hint and tip that blows your socks off.
Best Tipster - Number and Quantity (User Nick).
... For constant useful hints and tips over the month.
Best useful-app with source (User Nick and Topic Subject).
... For the "Cut/Paste/Away you go" code that was just what the doctor ordered.
The most useful apps with source (User Nick).
... For constant useful "Cut/Paste/It Works and It's useful" posts.
Funniest Post (User Nick and Topic Subject).
... For the funniest (
not 8O or :roll: ) post.
Funniest Poster (User Nick).
... For the funniest ( not 8O or :roll: ) poster.
and, special category:
Biggest Blooper (You can only nominate yourself, you enter the subject of the post. Others can vote you in, though).
Ideas for other categories would be appreciated. Only positive or lighthearted categories, no putdowns or belittling cats.
I think it would be of interest, especially if we get some neat categories. And it would be a way to show the really helpful folk here that they are appreciated. Winning the cat is not everything, even getting a mention shows someone loves you!
Exempt from this is Fred, otherwise he would get all the votes! So we'll have a special category with only one entry, Best PureBasic Creator/Author/Guru, and it will automatically get all the votes and win that category every time.
Also exempt is me, because otherwise I could cook the results and win hands down every month - such is the power of accolades and adoration. Ask any movie star or politician.
Monthly seems a reasonable time frame for the awards.
