The more i compare BMax to PB, the more i'm comparing a toy to a programming language.
And by the way, i know toys (and also programming languages) much more easy to play with

After buying and using BMax, I could swear that it was made by Lee Bamber.

Maybe you're going too far, don't insult Mark
But I agree, I don't like Blitzmax, Blitzbasic was amazing, I don't know why he changed the syntax

I bought BlitzMax before I bought PureBasic. I used it for a couple of weeks and was very disappointed in how "unfinished" it was. Many things were planned for it and almost nothing was done yet. If the language was in Beta I could understand that but it was released. I emailed Mark and asked for my money back and he was gracious enough to give it. I then spent it on PureBasic, a decision I have never regretted for a moment. But I think Mark Sibly is a great programmer and a very decent person, so let's not start slamming him because one of his products doesn't suit us. His other work, Blitz3D, is the flagship of his company and it is used to publish many world-class commercial games. It also, if you happened to read the interview, inspired Fred in his development of PB.

BMax syntax is awesome. One of the best things about it. Unfortunately, it is still very buggy and needs a bit more work before it can be used for serious development.

I have no doubts about.
Besides, in a certain way he could be called the great-grandfather of PB, because Fred was inspired on BB2

I am absolutely disagree. In my opinion that syntax is just the weakest part of BMAX.
How can you say that? BMax is the perfect way to get a headache

Because Mark discovered OOP a way to build a new Blitz line, and he did it.
May be he like VC++ or Borland C++ Builder, and he finally made a mixture of this and a strange basic syntax including all necessary thing to mainly program graphics aplications. The result: a strange language, and very difficult, of course, at least to me.

It is definitely not a beginner's language, but neither is C++

BMax is great syntax wise. Much easier to get a project going than with B3D or B+, easier to keep your work organized, less redundancy with your code. If they can fix the sound & graphics issues and make them as stable as the previous products, BMax would be awesome. Other than bugs, the worst thing about BMax is the IDE which is disgusting.
I use PB because it has true 2D, smaller EXEs than BMax, and is more compatible with existing systems than BMax, and is capable of doing apps.

I bought Bmax a time ago, but it's nothing more than a curiosity. It's nice and fun to use, but it's too slow and buggy for any half serious attempt. PureBasic is miles ahead.
Who knows one day Bmax will maybe become something else, but seing what happened with Blitz+ I have my doubts. A pity realy as Blitz & Blitz3D are realy nice products.
