It's the company's name that make people fall to their knees, not their update policy. Fantaisie Software hasn't that state yet...

Why not call it PureFree and in Preferences you can rename all keywords to whatever you want. This way nobody except you can read your code - a programmer's dream!

This discussion is pointless.
We will not just change the name PureBasic. Neiter will we stick to any stupid standard few people even know exists.
If you know us and PureBasic, you should know that we don't just comply to a standard just for the sake of
doing things like everybody else.

How many times do I have to repeat this?

We're not talking about standards compliance.

We're talking about adding a few functions contained in the standard AND in other implementations of BASIC which are absent from PureBasic. How many implementations of BASIC can you name which don't have EXP() or ATN()?

How many don't accept a variable after Step? :?

D'oh, I wish the other (LUA based) platform allowed for steps via variables, fwiw.

:?

I think I'll give Fred $5 to continue to have the strength to work after reading threads like this.

This thread has falled absolutely again to the matter referenced by viewtopic.php?t=19649, i. e. about if PB is Basic language or not Basic language. I agree with Timo, and i must add this important concept:
Basic is a topic, i mean, it is a language which was created long time ago, and the fact PureBasic includes "Basic" word does not mean it saves all features which had Basic language/s. In other words:
PureBasic is a product name, that's all. And don't care if it is called PureCode, PureBasic or PeraBisac, that's not very important.
It is true that it has an inheritance of Basic, but lots of inheritance characters are lost and/or changed with the evolution. The same happens to humans, animals, vegetables and everything in Cosmos.
If you fall in the question: "Basic or not Basic", you are falling down on a Totem (that's the case of Chris319)
The most important for sure is to locate and remove bugs and to get the more important libraries to be done in the best ASM, like Sprite, Sprite3D, and some others..., and i have seen nobody defending this prioritary matter in this thread!!! (Except Ralf, and some other...) And come on, this last is the real reason of being of this thread!!!
Thanx

I agree with Psychophanta, who gives a flying monkey's balls what the the language is called. Get the bugs out and get on with life, that's more important.

And it's the language creator's right to call it whatever he wants to and not some misguided person's right to tell him to do so. And believe me, I wanted to use the words I was actually thinking but wanted some peace on the subject.

You've got the wrong guy. For the 9,000th time, my position is that PureBasic is what it is. The OP and I have suggested that a half-dozen functions/keywords be added. If you have an issue with changing the PureBasic name, take it up with netmaestro or vPureBasic who brought it up.

Good grief I know the mods here are liberal, but if ever a thread needed to be locked its this one...
