There is no alternatives if you ask me, to turn down or put off the work that has already been done, all the ground work in getting this discount is a bit like if you pardon the expression giving fmod-team the finger, which it extremely rude, I'm not saying Fred has to make fmod into PB, but he should face facts, anything else out there is basically a kids toy compared to fmod, Blitz Basic uses this same system, at least then both sound system will be identical, and perhaps PB would support more features.
And what is more, is none of this has to come out of "his" personal pocket, this just doesn't make any sence what so ever.
FMOD I think i have a Lic for PB
This is not what I think.. You have to think ahead a bit......The most users do only need a multichannel-playback-system for pcm-based sounds and mods....
FMOD has very good 3D sound capabilities.. with doppler effects and surround system and all kinds of stuff..
With PB (hopefully) advancing on the 3D part (with OGRE), we need a sound system that can handle these aspects...
but all in all.. it's Fred choice, and he has already made it...
We can hope he has a grand plan/vision for PB in the future...
AMD Athlon XP2400, 512 MB RAM, Hercules 3D Prophet 9600 256MB RAM, WinXP
PIII 800MHz, 320 MB RAM, Nvidia Riva Tnt 2 Mach 64 (32MB), WinXP + Linux
17" iMac, 1.8 GHz G5, 512 MB DDR-RAM, 80 GB HD, 64 MB Geforce FX 5200, SuperDrive, OSX
That would be like reinventing the wheel a bit wouldn't it ?
Okay, what if this.... if the users pay for the licence to use it in the distro for PB, and some one "else" does the work for the ".lib" for PB, and fred just puts that ".lib" into his releases, that way he doesn't have to maintain it or look after it, just put it in there and forget about it.
I'll put myself on the roasting dish if needs be, I'll do it.

Do you really think you could raise the thousands of dollars for the license? I'm all for it if you think you can do it but I wouldn't hold to hope if I were you
Good luck!

Good luck!

Old bugs good, new bugs bad! Updates are evil: might fix old bugs and introduce no new ones.

Fred can simply integrate "ovLib" and "uFMOD" for
- OGG Streaming
- XM Playing(but ONLY XM)
Tht can be done for free
See License for uFMOD:
http://ufmod.sourceforge.net/Win32/en.htm#6
Worth a try and ovLib + uFMOS only adds a few KB to your final EXE...
