Hi GWS! :)

All of you ibasic, ebasic and aurora people should just switch to PureBasic, and forget about ionic wind and
the whole thingyamob.

I did a few years back. The PureBasic package is great, the product, the staying power, the forums and
its people, everything. :)

Apparently there has been a new post to the Ionic Wind forum - but it's private so the public can't see it... :(

@Ionic Refugee:

If somebody posts in a private forum then there is a reason for it, so don't re-post it here.

I'd like to know how many will register with a dying forum for a dead/discontinued product just to read a post in a private section about something they can't do anything about ? :)

If you do register just for that then you really have wayyyy too much time on your hands. :)

its not for new members or non members ie: not registered owners of the software not registered on the site.. Paul is just excplaining some stuff to bonified members of the forum and site as to who what when where why to certian concerns that have been expressed here and on CM and very probably via email to him.

IE: those that don't really need to know can't read it

I considered iBasic, EBasic, Aurora, whatever, dead, after Turley sold Pyxia and the new owner just let it die.

imho the 'trashing' has been quite mild and I think he was expecting it. By getting people to invest in the .net version of ebasic, then say close it all stating that he has been thing about it for a while is pretty disgraceful I think. He should at the very least give those people the money back. I personally am still waiting for my final version (out of beta) of the Aurora compiler that I paid for. Grrr!

i still don't know why coding monkeys isn't getting people from here that use PureBasic posting and sharing code on there... after all i even created dedicated areas for purebasic 2 years ago at least.. and nothing posted in it in over a year ...
This doesn't surprise me.

I own few of the products that never came to fruition. Paul complains that things do not sell, but they do not sell because he never finishes them.

I also invested many, many months working on the 3D manual for Aurora which was 70% done when Paul started looking to sell Aurora.

Since it was clear early on that Paul was never going to finish the audio engine many of us paid for, I started on my own audio engine as an add-on for Emergence BASIC and I have been working on a DX9 based sprite engine for EB, since the one included is unusable due to the huge size of the DLL.

I have been thinking about it, and I think I will put up a site and forums for EB and Aurora users, aimed at game developers. I will also put up the last freeware versions of the products since those were free and can be freely redistributed. This way anybody who does not have the languages can get them.

Since I bought the source package, I will be able to write updates and provide bug fixes for the freeware versions. It will be a better solution than creating a derivative product.

I will have to give it some more thought...

To all Ionic Wind users,

This site will be closing as of January 4th, 2010. I no longer have the drive, or the time, to continue supporting this site on my own and have decided it is best to just let it die peacefully.
I really hope this is THE ONE promise he will keep. If he don't and all his fans creeps back into his folder, I'll laugh my tail off. :)

I am a newbie, so please excuse my innocence!
But, why do people not like Ionic Wind/creator of the language?
I might add that I don't know who Ionic Wind is except it deals with a programming language?

Because the author has a confirmed history of begging his customers for donations for non-language stuff, like his daughter's wedding, and so on.
