The best key board Microsoft ever made.
The Natural Keyboard pro 4000 would be a close second if they'd get rid of the Office key bull crap and not use decals or paint for the key tops. It's a good keyboard but useless features and cheap construction pretty much ruin my impression of the keyboard and of Microsoft.
God I miss having one of those.. I have the 4000 (black) but the lots of my keys have worn off, or are heading that way.
The only clearly marked keys on the left hand side, are the Q and Z keys. everything else has little specs of paint, or nothing at all.
I miss being able to find keyboards with the angled split... now its all stupid "Wave" bullshit.
I do have a special place in my heart for the old Mechanical Spring IBM keyboards though... I just love the feel while typing, and the clicky noise.

Me too
It's the one I'm using right now. I have used this same keyboard
for the last 21 years.
It's built to last and works day after day, same feeling as day one, no discoloration on keys (as happen on most of the recent keyboards).
For me this is THE keyboard.
This or most of the Cherry keyboards (not the very cheap ones and not the full-of-crap ones) if you don't like the loudness of the spring mechanism.
But I love only the Model-M.

Yeah, time was key caps were made from two colors of plastic. The way they were made it was impossible to wear off the symbols on the keys unless you wore down the whole key. Now-a-days they've gone the cheaper route of using paint or decals to put the symbols on the keys and don't even bother to cover or coat them with something to give them some permanence.
Even worse, Microsoft got the "bright" idea that everyone uses Office so much that instead of labeling the function keys with the usual F1-F12, they put office function on them and then had the keys default to F1-F12. All I can say to that is that one of the job requirements to work at Microsoft much be to have a LOT of space between your ears....
