My keyboard is like that, and until I cleaned it recently was a lot worse than that! Expect that means I'm a programmer...

I'm on a laptop, so nope, my keyboard doesn't look like that... but I do have permanent palm/thumb marks worn into the silver surface

Wow, you still have keys on your keyboard. I find pushing the little rubber cups on the circuit board much easier on the fingers.

I connect the wires manually
