You know what i feel that PureBasic REALLY needs?

LINKS.

Good links with GOOD anchor text.
My site has a good "pagerank" (6) , but PureBasic isn't too games-oriented, so I can't put a direct link to "PaureBasic games".
Before you flame: I know that PB has good potentials, but I haven't still seen a game that made me say "wow!"

I'm still ckecking the other contenders, and think that I'll buy it :)
I really loved Blitz for Amiga (my faqs are still somewhere on the web!) but the PC version haven't the same "elasticity" :(

Well, tomorrow I'll make a link like "build games with PureBasic", let's see if can help.

Oh, the site is http://www.uvlist.com

Ok, let everyone donate $ 100 for the next 10 years, so we are assured we have more Purebasic in the next years :D

Fred or whoever is in charge of the www.purebasic.com should put up a donation page. It would be fun to see who have donated and with how much. Lots of open-source takes this approach. Like this link http://www.libsdl.org/finances.php

If you really like Purebasic and Fred's work, you could also just buy a ekstra copy and brag with it in your sig.

hey fred, need a summary of my wishlist? 8)

That's what I was thinking. One of the main reasons I registered PureBasic
was because all future updates are free. I have the right to enjoy the
language until the day Fred stops updating it, and I don't have to feel
the need to donate in the meantime.

Which is why it should only be optional.

I guess it is pretty odd to have a donation available for a commercial product :-)

I'll probably just buy a few more copies or something.. *shrug* sounded like a good idea at the time!

Surely the best support is to convince your friends to buy PB? More users and more cash for Fred!

Also, perhaps a little devious, look at what attracts people to other languages and contribute some open source.

Finally, I think the best long term support is constructive suggestions for adding to PB's functionality. After all it's really this and price that are the main motivators for people considering a purchase.

For my 2p worth: Support for 64bit processors and full Linux functionality will be a sure winner. Maybe not today but I think exponentially over the next 12..18 months. I suspect this (or at least a definite (dated) promise) would make buying PB a no-brainer. Shucks, I'd even pay a 50% price for that upgrade :P I still think the otherwise "free upgrades" are a massive appeal, but then other langs also offer that (so maybe it's now just expected).

well, i am still willing to buy an extra copy!

THE IN YOUR FACE GLARING STUFF...

- gimme not
- gimme fixed length strings
- gimme multiple case conditens with select case endselect
- gimme double ints and double floats
- gimme fileexist

- standardize or expand all those command variants (usefile, usewindow, windowoutput(), spriteoutput() etc. that have inconsistent syntax or cause unneccesary additional statements)

THE VERY VERY VERY APPRECIATED...

- add '#nr' parameter to most file commands
- delete / insert elements in arrays
- swap variables / array elements
- defline to define style / thickness of drawn 2d graphics
- VAL on hex strings
- STR to accept floats, bytes etc. with specified nr. of decimals

THE HMMM NICE...

- depth parameters for CreateImage / LoadImage etc.
- bigger strings (actually, i would only need the gixed length strings to be larger, normal strings at 64k are good enough for me)
- thread safe strings
- commands to sync up multi threading

THE ICING ON THE CAKE (take your time :-))...

- collision in 3d
- better sound lib (eax, fade, etc.)
- proper documentation (there's always the board and the chat to ask, and you guys are great, so that's why this is on the bottom of my little :-) list...)

well... how about those first two sections in 3.81 hmm?

:-)

Since I'm very new to PureBasic and to comunity, I don't feel very comfortable writing about this matter, but still, since I'm here I might as well add my 2cent opinion... :)

I saw an article in a local magazine here in Zagreb, Croatia called PC Chip. Article was comparing several similar products, one of them was PureBasic... after some reading, visiting web sites and some consideration my choice was PureBasic, so I bought the thingie. :)

For some time it just layed installed on my PC taking up so precious clusters of my HDD space and finaly I decided to do something about it and with it.

Ok, I'm not trying to write a book here, so my point is.. you guys are doing something very good since I picked PureBasic package among other offered programs. Truth is at first I was very happy thinking: "oh boy, finaly I'll do wonders with it" but as I started poking around I realised to my horror that it's not just kit'n'code type of tool I was looking for and also I realized that my butt will get pretty sweaty untill I finaly figure out what/where and how :)

Now I'm here and hopefuly I'll achieve my goal and see this idea I have in motion. So, yeah, I'll donate certain amount of cash to developers/owners of the PB tool as I like to see it keep going and developing even more.

Also, one remark regarding tut's... even this forum looks awesome, full of good tips and helpful hints, I still can't find something for like 'total' begginers, tho I am going through it and chance is I missed something. Oh, but I did find some excellent tips and examples that are helpful and they get me started... finaly! :)

Anyway, I'm happy to finaly reached this forum and hi hopes are still here even I relized that it's not going to be as easy as I thought at first.

Well, there it is.. :)
Kind regards.

Huh, I take that remark about tut's back... looks like I was hasty, just a bit. :)

oh, i'd pay even 200 euro a year if purebasic will be ported to macosx, so we can offer our clients cross-platform applications. purebasic would then be the most interesting basic around! btw: is there any roadmap available for the future development of purebasic?

I think that roadmap is inside Freds head!! 8)
