Suppouse that i put me email on my home page authorizing that people send me emails related to my software. Then if someone get my email and send me a message with a different porpouse its SPAM ¿ok?
But be reading the header i CANT know tyhat its spam.
People (authorized ppl to send me emails) dont follow any rule, you CAN tell them to put some text in the subject line, they will send emails with subjects like:
Re:
Hello
Help
And if you DONT answer them they will ask for refund!!
So... how can i detect SPAM from acceptable emails, there is no real difference a lot of times. You must use a list of well known spammers or look for some 'souspicious' content to clasify it like SPAM before reading it and it COULD fail.
I use one antispam software (great one) and sometimes send to the spam box mails from my users because they put links to their homepages on they signature and the antispam software thinks that its spam... my own mother in law get banned once from my mailbox ( i swear i didnt do it by myslef!) becase she send me several links in one email.
Your system will work with all this eventuallities?
If the answer is YES, you will be rich and famous very soon, just remmeber that you has poor friends like me
Its a joke, dont get it wrong, im not making fun of your inteligence, i know that you are so inteligent, i hope that you have this method... i need to use it!!!
Best Regards
Ricardo
Dont cry for me Argentina...
How?1. You have to SUBSCRIBE to anything to get EMAIL, you have to AUTHORISE somebody to send email to you, that includes friends.
2. Anything you get in your email that you did not 'AUTHORISE' (SUBSCRIBE TO) is SPAM.
3. You only have to read the HEADER to know it did not come from someone you asked to send you something, you DON'T have to read the email.

No system is flawless Ricardo but I have one simple rule....I pay way too much money every month for my cable connection, therefore I alone decide what does or does not make it into my expensive mailbox.
I check ALL headers only and if it is not from someone I asked to send me email or have AUTHORISED to send me email, it goes on my kill list immediately, no further worry from me.
I do have a support list and I agree, you may not know what is on an email because spammers copy subject lines but then I also have filters for the body to catch non-support issues like "Send me money now", "I want your baby", "Free sex" etc and my customers are clearly instructed as to the method of the posting they must follow to avoid being banned. I banned Hotmail a long time as a source email address and advise people to "Get a real email address" just for this reason.
Nothing is foolproof though, except death and taxes:)

Okay: My system works only for mail from real people. If you have a
mailing list, etc, then you'll need another e-mail address to receive
that. But my system, since it works for real people only, is fine for
most people who want an 100% spam-free Inbox. Yes, 100%. (In fact,
the only way that you can get spam again is if a friend tells the
spammer how to do it, but if that happens, the system can be applied
once again to stop this new spam AND also mail from that "friend" who
is now your enemy).
> If the answer is YES, you will be rich and famous very soon
That's exactly why I can't reveal the method until I am 100% sure that
I will get all the credit. The method is NOT a program, so I can't
copyright it. It's just a technique, which ANYONE can do. And I don't
want someone to publish the idea before I do.
The reason it takes so long for me to publish it is because I want it
to be written to cater for all types of people: newbies, advanced, etc.
It has to be clear, concise and explain the technique for all e-mail
client software, since everybody uses different mail apps. All this
means I have to download and test every major e-mail app out there,
and that's a big chunk of time to accomplish.
I've had this idea for some time now (over a year) and nobody has
come up with anything like it yet, so I'm sure it's safe until I
can publish a document.

Spam, by my definition, is mail sent to me from people that do not
have my prior permission to contact me. As such, it's very easy to
detect spam based on this definition.
Well, the solution seems stop reading your mailYour current spammed E-Mail address becomes "fresh" again, as though it had never even existed before.
Any junk mail that you currently receive will cease immediately from the moment you apply the technique.

If you are into the web business, you might know that there is no way to make a new go all around the world without a BIGGGGG budget.
IMHO if you want SOME credit, you have to contact some writer for PC-Magazine and give him the story... then you could have one or two in articles in some magazine. Otherwise, your method will be propaged without any mention to you site or your name.
Just think: Which was the top 5 virus of the PC history? The coders of this viruses?
Nobody knows... and it was published one or two times every year in BBC, CNN, etc.
Whi was the creators of BASIC or C language? Who remembers his names?
The Nobel Price of literature of 2002?
Nobody knows, just a few people knows.
Try to make a business with your idea and forget about credit.
Its only mi opinion of course.

It must not be a program or something real
to patent it. You patent the idea and you
can choose if everybody using this technique
later must pay you or can use it for free.
Yes, you can also make it free for some time
and if everybody in the world is using it
you change the licensing to make some cash.
This already happened and now the big companies
using the GIF format (LZW compression) in their
programs (Photoshop etc..) must pay the patent
holder.
Good luck, PB!
btw: everybody knows that Dennis Ritchie developed
the programming language 'C' in the 70's in the
Bell Labs (Murray Hill, USA) to implement the UNIX OS
on a DEC PDP-11. In 1978 Brian Kernighan and Dennis
Ritchie announced the first version to the public (K&R standard).
And later, in July 1983 the language 'C++' was used
for the first time in the public.
Earlier version of C++ was used since 1980 and known
as "C with Classes" - but it was only used in Labs.
The official name 'C++' was stamped by Rick Mascitti
in summer 1983. Except some type-conversation holes
C++ includes C completely and '++' is the increment
operator in C.
The shorter name 'C+' would be a syntax error...

Patents and nothing are almost the same... just look at the mp3 format. Fraunhofer owns it and everybody is encoding/decoding without paying the patent.
Once i read that i must pay $10,000 US to obtain the small patent and have to pay 3 dls for every application sold.
They try to sue blade and other guys developing small encoders... nothing happends they cant stop them.
Patents are valid only in USA, Germany and some other countries. The laws in one country are not applicable to other ones, thats why its difficult to shutdown a server in chine or russia, no matter they are doing ilegal stuff (ilegal on other countries of course).
But i dont want to argue, its just a comment.
Good luck PB!!

Wrong. I will publish it on my site, an on many Usenet groups, and
even in a major Australian newspaper (in a public notices section).
Yes, people may re-publish it without giving me credit, but credit
means proving who published it first, and I will be that person.

Sorry Danilo, but here in Australia you can't patent ideas, otherwise
I'd have done it by now. Australian law states that I must create an
actual tangible ("real") product first, to copyright the method.

Okay, now I've pissed someone off, which WASN'T my intention.
FOR THE RECORD: It is NOT a hoax at all. I said that because I was
sick of getting bombared with questions about the technique! I felt
the best way to end it was to falsely admit it was a hoax to get some
of the heat off me.
As I said in an earlier post, I wouldn't ruin my reputation by making
such claims if I couldn't deliver. The technique works, full stop.
When I am ready to give details and publish it, you will be informed.
Until then, I don't want to talk any more about it. This may sound
immature and pathetic, but I've already stated a few times that I
don't want to give it away before I publish it, yet the questions
just kept coming. Trust me, you WILL see that it works, in due time.
That's all I'm saying on this topic for now.
