Exactly. As a decison "not taken lightly" this was obviously in the back of his mind for some time and thus you can't help but wonder about the advance payments for the .Net version of EMBasic? Those people deserve their money back at the very least.

If someone can pick up the "allsource" thing and keep maintaining EBasic, would be good.

At least please make EBasic freeware or open-sourced, don't just let the software die for no reason...

I bought the source too, but I don't think I have time or intension to update it myself...

The source is incomplete and you can use it only for your own development, not for maintaining EBasic.
For me, EBasic is a dead language.

that you are welcome here on the purebasic-Ship too !

i still don't know why coding monkeys isn't getting people from here that use PureBasic posting and sharing code on there... after all i even created dedicated areas for purebasic 2 years ago at least.. and nothing posted in it in over a year ... its a great way to tell and show people about any coding language and what it can do and help promote the language and help others at the same time.

Softer line? Paul's users have paid for a prom dress for his daughter, paid for vet bills for his dog, paid for birthday/anniversary presents for his wife, paid for the wedding of his daughter, paid to support a drunken brother, paid for house payments, paid for taxes, heck the users just paid for the down payment on a new house, paid bills when he continually loses his jobs, paid for wife's surgery, paid for funeral expenses for family members, paid for gas, paid for heating fuel, paid for clothes, paid for other "needs" that were supposedly for others in Paul's community (Did anybody believe that?), users who had bought all of the products had to pay for them all again when they products went freeware with paid forum support, when the products went back to shareware, the users had to pay for all of them a third time :roll:

In return Paul's users get products which never actually get finished: Linux Version of EB, The EB Visual Designer, Aurora, The .NET version of EB, the EB audio engine, lessons from the Ionic Wind University

I think the reason will boil down to Paul is Paul: Paul is a failure as a business man, a failure as a husband, a failure as a father and a failure as a man.

It will be interesting to see what new product will being sold under a new company name next year. Keep in mind, it doesn't have to really be new. If you looked at many of the libs in early versions of Aurora and Emergence, you would have seen they were compiled from source directories that had "ibasic" in the path names. I am not talking about the IDEs, core parts of the languages were reused.

You can maintain it for yourself and you can use the source to create derivative products.

Since Ionic Wind will be ceasing to exist, even if you violated the license (which I am not suggesting), there is nobody who would be able to do anything about it.

Coding Monkeys is great, but as a busy coder with limited time, everything I need, Purebasic-wise, is right here; great support, great code, great community... I would say that a sizeable proportion of the Purebasic user-base use PB because of these forums and in that sense, at least, there is no real need for another Purebasic help forum.

I am not knocking coding monkeys because I have found your site very useful on occasion. It is just that, well, as the official Purebasic forums, these will always remain the first stop for many when seeking assistance with Purebasic.

Well I don't see the point of this thread. 90% of the posts are personal attacks on an individual so it breaks the offtopic rules imho. Deserved or not, nobody here would appreciate being trashed in an open forum like this.

If he closes his company then the remains that are left in it are free for anyone to pick at. All its (not his) rights go when it dies. If he never formed a proper company then he still retains the rights, but people who were promised finished goods are entitled to them or money back or damages (or possibly both).
