And that is the sole reason why I don't follow or practice any of the established religions.garretthylltun wrote:Almost every religion says not to kill another, that it's bad, but look throughout history and count the millions upon millions that have died in religious wars or were killed for religious reasons.
My religion is unique to me because it is based on what I believe and not on what somebody else tells me to believe.

Edited a new message in octubre 2008:
Zeitgeist Addendum
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/
(The pathetic thing is that that info gets into one ear and then exits from the other one, believing that all is good and disregarding humankind is now inside a GO AHEAD-STOP FOREVER crossroad).
EDIT: crossroad which will not be longer than 600 years.

I've editied my post to remove everything I said because there is just so much BS in the documentary that it would take another whole documentary to explain it, and i found myself wanting to add more and more specific examples of the lies and half truths all thru the documentary. So i'm simply not going to get into it...other then to say...
The whole documentary is full of lies, half truths, omissions, things out of context, and mis-direction. The whole documentary is pure BS.

The 911 stuff was not the interesting bit, I was interested in the part about Horus and all the other variants of the Jesus story.SFSxOI wrote:Great! another 911 conspiracy theory movie. The whole documentary is pure BS.

Just exactly what is it that's going to get us? 'God'? Climate change? avian flu? SARS? CJD?...
I find the hysteria very entertaining but you'll have to forgive me for not joining in.

Have you read the offtopic rules?: religion arguing is not allowed! So there is better to not to write that word anymore.
EDIT: By the way, after you watch that, are you able to tell what is the failure/s you see in that plan (i mean Venus project)?.
Beware because there is needed a very intelligent mind (at least in human being study and understanding matter) to answer that.
I and a colleage are peacefully writing a work since more than 6 years ago which is casually almost exactly the same that Zeitgeist-addendum, but our message differs in only one thing that we think Zeitgeist authors are ignoring or are fantasying:
The generic individuals which contain the masses are not so intelligent to reach those objectives.
That is the saddest fact which plays in favor of the current managers of the world. And about that fact there is almost all said by some of the old philosophers and all of the recent ones since Nietzsche.
Looking at possible ignorance (aka ingenuousness, to make it to sound fine), i edited my last post.the.weavster wrote:Doomed, doomed, we're all doomed!Psychophanta wrote:all is good and disregarding humankind is now inside a GO AHEAD-STOP FOREVER crossroad

Very wrong! It's because they DO take their religions seriously, and do what God say in the holy bible in the case of christians for example.PB wrote:> so many are ready to kill thousands in the name of a god
It's because they don't take their religions seriously.
I see you haven't taken a look at the bible about the criminal and assasin "personality" of Yahve (aka Jehova)!!
But ya! forget that and concentrate in other things in and out the film, please.
The movie ignores the fact that people tend to relate things in the context with which they are familiar. The majority of people back then didn't have the master or understanding of languages or more suitable ways to describe things we do today, the masses back then were poorly educated (as in not at all or only rarely and then only in the things as it was understood where they were educated at). Back then it was completly possible for someone familiar with say for example the Egyptian belief system to relate things they didn't fully understand or grasp in context with the Egyptian belief system (or any other belief system). Then couple that with the fact that most early languages were picture based in some way, if a person who had never encountered Jesus for example encountered him once he/she might have tendancy to explain what they saw by drawing a picture familiar to them from their own understanding of say Egyptian culture and that picture might also be the same used to represent an Egyptian diety simply because thats how they knew to communicate so they used what they knew. We see the same basic effect today in for example those who have been blind from birth, their context of the words "sky color" (as in you ask them to tell you the color of the sky), unless they have been told before that the sky color is blue they might tend to describe it in relation to something else in another context. As people migrated to other places they told of how things were where they came from, when they encountered something new they likened it to something they were already familiar with. Thus its entirely possible for a story of God or Jesus, or anything in christianity, for example to be similar to a story of some other figure or diety from somewhere else or another culture. The movie completly ignores this possibility and states what it does in such a manner as to exclude any other possibility or fact. It also doesn't allow for the plain fact that anything mankind gets its hands on is most likely to be changed in some way along its evolutionary line.Intrigued wrote:Very enlightening!
Thanks for sharing. It really shows just how much Christianity derives from the Egyptian belief system.
After reading Terry Pratchett's _Small Gods_ I find it *very* hard to take *any* religion all to seriously.

Well, monetary slavery system is now being taken very seriously by most individual who conforms the pleb.blueznl wrote:After reading Terry Pratchett's _Small Gods_ I find it *very* hard to take *any* religion all to seriously.
The so called police (i.e. states armed bands), army and goberments wear stolen uniforms, drive stolen bikes and cars, tankes, planes, etc.; and it is so curious no citicen say anything about that (except me and few others), just because they are "slave morals", i.e. mediocre and inferior consciousness.
Plebs definitory feature is that there is not possible to surprise it (pleb) in own of any idea. This means: when plebs have any own idea, then pleb loss its meaning, i.e. is automatically vanished.
Never in the past was so stablished and deep religions (money religion over all) like now (and continue growing). And never in the pass was so stablished and deep slavery like now.
But i and few others realized about that facts since reason use, about 12 y.o. ¿Why most of individuals do not? I also have the answer; just learn a little bit neurology and then another little bit of the human brain known evolution to answer that.
Nietzsche is one who tolds all about.
Zeitgeist , etc, are just simple bits from Nietzschean message.
About Venus project, of course awesome, but with the current physical brain i find it impossible.
EDIT, of course ther was superior consciousnesses before Nietzsche's one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicurus, etc. over all from Helenic period and Alexandria's library bests moments, but their messages was mostly lost.
Well, when you stop and consider that religion and belief in God or a supreme being, or even the lack of belief, are actually two seperate things sometimes its hard to look at it and take it seriously. Religion is an invention of man, a system, of the practices assumed to be associated with the belief in something. A belief in God or a supreme being, or even a lack of belief, is an individual faith that something either exists or it doesn't.blueznl wrote:After reading Terry Pratchett's _Small Gods_ I find it *very* hard to take *any* religion all to seriously.
