It's not me, I had read this post before and was just giving a reminder:

but if it really doesn't matter, never mind

Just some of the issues when there are replies to spam posts (or embedded spam posts)
Threads tend to meander and go off topic. Removing a thread started by a spammer then removes these other posts and some users get peeved.
Picking and choosing which posts to remove from a thread can be a begger and a time waster. And clicking the wrong "X" is likely to have some irate user breathing down a mods neck - and the spam still stands.
So it can add a little extra work and angst.
Netmaestro is right in my (not so) humble opinion.
Please don't respond to spammers.
Thanks!

@Dare(2),
Good point!
@netmaestro,
Sorry, wasn't meaning to pick on you.
Fortunately I don't have that problem. The first five posts by a new user have to be approved by a moderator before they are visible to the rest of the forum. So what little spam we get nobody sees....

If bots (or the spammers) were a little smart, they would add themselves to active threads instead of new ones

Some do. Remember the bot/guy who embedded a popup and kept posting "

" randomly in threads.
