enter "DarkStar One" in your local Amazon.

DarkStar One may be a spinoff of Freelancer, but Freelancer is yet another spinoff of Elite and not a very good one IMHO, too heavily scripted.

I got my copy at http://www.amazon.com

It's also available as a 4.3 GB download, I think I saw it at http://www.ascaron.com

don't find it there... only find an official selling for 49.95€

@PB what was your location?

check the net for "Rondomedia". they have a low-price offer (15.99€) with an "Ubisoft eXclusive" cover....
dunno if it's a german-only marketing company....
oh... and have a nice day.

I am not fond of 3D, but DarkStar One is very interesting.

I mainly play retro-styled 2D games, especially fond of strategy games and golf games.

There is a 900 MB demo of DarkStar One available if you want to try it out before buying it, the demo lets you explore most of the first two star clusters in the game.

Downside is, your saved games don't or won't transfer to the full version so it you buy it, you'll have to start over...

I played DarkStar One demo for about two hours...

It's too linear... I didn't enjoy it much...

Well, I just quit playing DarkStar One in total frustration. Turns out what the demo doesn't show you is that the game's difficulty balance varies wildly from too easy to nearly impossible, mouse control is way too sensitive and no way to adjust it was provided, and several othe problems.

You can read my entire feedback about the game on their forums if you're interested:

Any one want DarkStar One? This one will be on eBay shortly!

"Games people play": actually, that's actually a rather interesting book.

/me grins...

In fairness, X3, if you play the plot it is JUST as bad as DorkStar One, but X3 is open ended... you don't have to play the plot. But one bit of free advice, if anyone decided to buy it and are Starforce haters... just remember that with the latest Update to X3 Starforce is removed :). X3 is a tough game though... but a lot of fun and very modable :)
