its really still unbelievable, how much problems i get when trying to work a full day with vista...
When tried to select a file...
Sometimes vista still reset without any bluescreen or warning... after rebooting you get this nice message...
GAIM v1.5 and latest beta:
I really like GAIM insteed using ICQ or MSN directly... On XP it works very fine for me... Now on Vista, i get only work the ICQ account... when trying to start the MSN account, GAIM will crash while connecting (protocol)... This happens with v1.5 and latest beta6 O.O
My first statement about vista... it may look nice and may have some news and fixes... but i feed me more and more like a vista beta tester where you get again and again in conflict with some silly or strange problems, even i use a final legal release...

Probably a wise decision. I believe we still have quite a few folks running PB 3.9x for that very same reason.
cheers

It's nice to see all the warriors here checking out early versions of Vista without
fear
Hope you keep us informed of any problems regarding Vista/PureBasic as well, so we
can adjust as early as possible.
As for me, I have a cracked Vista laying around which I won't touch, so I'm going to
wait until I need to buy my next PC. (ultramobile, so that I can hack PB anywhere

)

I bought a new laptop about a week ago. It's a Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMi with 1 GB of RAM, 2 GHz CPU and 120 GB hard drive. Nice machine, it came with Vista Home Premium. BUT, I'm running XP on it hehehe.
Not because there's something wrong with Vista, well, it does have a few bugs and quarkes, but because I got so damn sick and tired of calling MS every other day to get a new damn license key. And yes, I do re-install allot hehehe

I can confirm a problem with the IDE but i got:
POLINK: fatal error: Toegang geweigerd (access denied)
But using my PBDev tool i can compile fine, even adding a resource to it.
(PBDev add's the resource in a different way though)
I installed PureBasic 4.02 (and PBDev) for the first time on that environment.

Edwin, that is because of the User Account feature.
Most people I know, including myself just turn off the User Account.

And what is that?
Hopefully a pb setting but seems not(!)

It's a security feature in Vista to prevent unauthorized execution of files.
You can read more about it here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 05108.aspx
To disable it, go to Control Panel, User account settings, where you can edit your account, you should see a link at the bottom of the Window, click that to disable the User Account (UA) feature. Disadvantage is that you will get a warning message each time you start Vista.
