If it's an AMD, turn off Cool'n'Quiet option in the bios!

You seem to be right.
One of my HDDs is knocking sometimes. It does not want to stay any longer inside my PC ... ok ... freedom ... rubbish bin!

Thanks to all. ;-)

Man that's the weirdest HD sound I've ever heard.
I have heard a high pitched whine from some HD's.
And way way back on my Amiga I do recall a HD that started making a gnashing sound (after it died and I opened it I saw that one of the platter heads had made contact with the disc itself and had cut a groove into the surface of the disc :shock: )

I would have to agree. It is not only weird, it is scary. If that sound ever emanated from my computer, I would probably call an exorcist :roll:

Not to be rude but in your case maybe a medicine man (hence your name White Eagle = native american?) would do the trick? :D

Personally i prefer the medicine man (very powerfull) and more hollistic way of thinking.

You've got multiple platters spinning at 7200rpm... HDs can make that knocking sound ;) It doesn't take much for the arms to get out of wack enough to make all kinds of crazy noise.

Great idea - let's try it...

Code: Select all

CPU.s = "INTEL"
!MOV Edi, dword [v_CPU]
!XOR dword [Edi], 1158677256
Debug CPU
Wow - it works! - Thanks GeoTrail - Now i just need some code to speed it up a little - - 99.999 GHz would be nice :)
