you can read something about this software.

If this is true, you get ads like the free version of Opera.

About the 'download e-mails': I assume you have to wait until the 1st of August.

I got a mail from them, where they say I will get extra features because I am one of the first 100000 registrants. And they also say that I will get the instruction at August 1st.
bye,

exactly thats why i said it wasnt scam! we get as many features as in the real allibre designer! allthough the assembly's are limited to 25 parts, it doesnt mean you cant replicate them. [eg 20 equal screws=1 part]. also the version that those NOT in 100 000 list, will only have 5 parts.

So basically, us who registered before 100 000, we get a full featured 3d CAD app, with ad's however but that isnt really a very very big problem.
As of August 1, Alibre Design Xpress will be available to all for free. But, as one of the first 100,000 to register, you're getting a little more.

For you Alibre Design Xpress will include all the features listed on the new Alibre Design Xpress site, plus:

* Advanced part modeling, which includes features like shelling, 3D sketch, reference surfaces, etc. View the Alibre Design brochure on our web site for the full part modeling feature set.

* Create and edit assemblies with up to 25 unique parts. You can open an assembly with more parts in read-only mode.

* Create 2D drawings with standard orthographic views. All drawings are fully associative: you change the model and the drawing updates.

* 3D import/export of all the standard formats Alibre Design supports, including STEP, SAT (ACIS), and IGES. DXF and DWG are supported in 2D, and STL is supported for export.
allibre design is their big wideused product.
so it was not scam :)

My guess is 1 week before the Internet thingy is cracked ...

Same thing happened to HL2, one week after oficial launch there were steam.dll's that didn't connect online...

well why use free software then if it isnt legal? else you could just use the alibre design no problem there. also i dont have problem with the ads [host file maybe?] and neither with that it needs internet. however, creating a false server and editing hostfile would that be unlegal?

I was sent the special link for the first 10,000 people and gave the software a try.

In my opinion, it is complete crap.

Even if it was any good, it is constantly validating itself over the internet and also grabbing new banner ads to display. If you do not allow it to connect to the internet, it shuts down after 10 minutes.

it wanted me to update my DirectX and that was okay and then, it wanted me to install the "MSVM" if I remember correctly and for a cad program, that's insane. I'm not going to install unrelated crap on my machine just to test a free cad package.

Dumped it in the bin and ran TurboCad 11 which works fine without all the crap, advertising or third party unrelated addons.

MSVM? Isn't that like um. MicroSoft Virtual Machine? (i.e MS Java engine)

Hmm

Don't remember the exact words because I got annoyed at it wanting extra crap that I didn't have installed and wondering why a cad program needed it when others I have used didn't so I tossed it into the bin.

At any rate, I have the artistic ability of a dead dingo's donger:):):)
