Saving PNG files with BITS and COMPRESSION flags?

I know the internal PNG save image in Purebasic win, does not support anything else than 24bit format and no control of the compression, but are there a workaround for this?

I need to save a number of PNG files to 8Bit and compression of 9.
Or have at least access to this features.

Could freeimage.dll do this for me?

Anybody have an quick example or even a source lying around?
