Check this out: http://tinyurl.com/b6rzq

BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP... and use Firefox. ;)
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I used to use Opera. But now Opera seems more and more like Netscape, gigantic bloatware. I like Firefox, if there is something more I need I can just find an extension :)

one more converted :)
nah i dont think opera COULD be more secure. since i installed firefox the amount of adware & that stuff has dropped to 0! i ran adaware & spybot s&d, ms antispyware and spydoctor right after i installed firefox. Much adware on my computer. i didnt run them for over ½ year. Last week i did it, and ALL they found was 3-4 cookies!

Usually i needed to run them every week.

also those shitty ads in opera. if you can get something better for free why not do that? :P

heheheh

I use firefox personally... but it's not as secure as the general public thinks.. I only use it because of the tabbed browsing though. when IE7 comes out, it'll have tabbed browsing (according to the rumors), and i'll prolly switch back. After all... Firefox isn't as fast as IE, i've loaded up pages side by side in IE and FF, and IE pretty much wins hands down.

As far as the security goes... every bit of software out there has security holes, apparently. It's more important to keep up to date on Antivirus and anti-spyware than to just trust that your browser is secure.

----
The Mozilla Foundation on Wednesday pushed out a new version of Firefox to patch three vulnerabilities, just days after a major security firm said the open-source browser had 60 percent more vulnerabilities in the last half of 2004 than Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

Well, CERTAIN pages do load faster in IE, I have to admit that, some even loads faster in Opera. The main reason I don't use Opera anymore is that I got sick of tables on some websites got all messed up, and many with advanced menues didn't work at all. The main reason I use FF isn't because of speed in general, but because of all the cool extensions that I now can't live without.

Maybe I'll go back to IE when v7 comes out, to the testers ;)

on ALL computers i tried it on, it was much much faster. opera was faster in specific cases too, but in general opera and firefox is equal speed. but internet explorer crashes all the time etc.
and that lame major security firm might have something wrong with ther heads...

FireFox is NOT more secure than IE, the point is that hackers focused on IE *only* because has much users than FireFox.

firefox IS definently more secure.
just the fact that it DOES NOT RUN THOSE STUPID ACTIVE X COMPONENTS

you go defend your internet explorer. i do not care. YOU 2 are the first ones EVER i have heard saying that lame "ie is far more secure than firefox bla bla bla i suck bla bla"

im serious. never heard anyone else say that shit

edit:
in this post im a guru, so you listen to me, dudes! :) lol not serious. i just havent heard anyone else say that..

and it doesnt have much more users..
The biggest challenge facing Firefox is that even though it offers tabbed browsing, live bookmarks, text zooming, pop-up blocking and a superior user interface, Microsoft's Internet Explorer is still the most widespread browser. After all, every copy of Microsoft Windows sold includes a version of Internet Explorer and every Web site is optimized for Internet Explorer.

A Google fight reveals us: Internet Explorer - 36,000,000 results, and surprisingly, Firefox - 31,000,000 results. Still, Firefox has its flaws like crashing while trying to view PDF files and taking a lot of time to load. If the next IE version would support tabbing and would be 50% more secure than before, Microsoft would surely maintain dominance in the field. According to W3Schools, Firefox has slowed in growth over the past few months and it now has 21% of usage share, compared to IE6 which has 64%.)
At the present time Firefox seems more secure than Internet Explorer, but what will the future bring?

Firefox is a web browser like Internet Explorer. What makes Firefox superior is that it empowers you to browse faster, more safely and more efficiently than with any other browser. Firefox imports your Favorites, settings and other information, and runs independent from your existing browser so you have nothing to lose. Firefox is a Free Download that is loaded with standard features such as Tabbed Browsing and Live Bookmarks. Basically put, Firefox is the best web browser.
im not quite sure if this changes your mind, but from personal experience too i have seen firefox far more secure. afterall it DOES have a big amount of users.
Still, Firefox, developed by the Mozilla Foundation, won't harbor nearly as many security flaws as those that have Microsoft's Internet Explorer, and increasing popularity won't change that, Mitchell predicted.

another reason: firefox bugs are fixed in 24 hours! ms takes months to fix..
and:
Yes, Firefox is a lot more popular now and has a much higher profile. Yes, a lot of smart hackers are working now to break Firefox. And what a surprise: These hackers aren't making life miserable for Firefox users, they're working with us to make Firefox more secure. Why is that? Because we pay attention to security bug reports, we try to treat people who find and report security bugs with respect, we invite them to work closely with us, we reward them for finding bugs (both with money and with credit), and most important: we actually fix bugs in a timely manner as opposed to sitting on them and treating security as just a potential PR problem.

well, i was not really arguing that IE is secure... not by any means.

But the numbers do not lie, there were more security holes found in firefox in the last half of '04, than there was for IE. The number wasn't "how many were patched" it was how many were found...

but all were patched! remember ie had far far much years to be done in. firefox was BORN secure, because of good developing. just the fact that activex cant be run is big enough to prove its more secure! also the fact that every serious bug that is found is corrected in a matter of hours or just a few days.
