Been almost 3 months since 3.93

Post by Amiga5k »

Not that I'm complaining, but the updates seem to come about 2.5 to 3 months apart, so it looks like we are about due for the next installment, right?

Whether or not this will be 4.0 is unknown, but even a 3.94 would be a pleasant surprise.

p.s. Saw Star Wars 3 Wednesday night and it is excellent! Possibly the best of the series, certainly the best of the prequels. I'm going to catch it again tonight to make sure I heard what I thought I heard in some parts... (no, Chewy is not related to Yoda!) ;)

I saw it yesterday and I didn't like it. Eps 4,5,6 are still the best. ;)
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I agree !

Episodes 4, 5 and 6 were the best (funny robots, a breathtaking story and many charismatic characters).

Since Episode One the Star Wars universe has changed :
More robots, more spaceships, more battles, more Jedis, more blasters, more speed, more more more ...

I think it has lost the originality of the beginning and became a Hollywood 'super-production'.

Whether or not it is better than the orginal 3 is a matter of opinion, of course (I think you'll at least agree that it is WAY better than one or two).

But there is a reason there are more of everything: The Clone Wars (and subsequent battles between the empire and the rebellion) get a lot of this stuff destroyed, which could explain why everything looks so new in 1,2 and 3 and so old in 4,5 and 6.

It's all debateable, of course, but overall I thought it did rather well. My only real complaint is that it does slow down a bit abruptly in parts and Hayden's performance could have been a lot better (Ewan <Obi> and Ian <Palpatine> are of course excellent).

Anyway, I'm hoping that George takes a tip from Peter Jackson and releases an extended version for the real fans with the stuff that was cut out (which is considerable).

@Fred:
Sorry, didn't mean to come of as that demanding, just getting anxious for the next release. :)

Empire Strikes Back is the best by far, pure perfect storytelling at its finest! :) I agree EpIII is the better one of the new trilogy but i was a bit surprised how quickly Ani fell to the darkside, it sort of went:
Palpatine: I can teach you new powers that could save Padme from death.
Ani: But your a Sith Lord?
Palpatine: and?...
Ani: Ok, sounds cool, give me a new name and i'll turn my back on everything i've been taught and lived for the past 20years! :)
Wierd! :?

I agree. It was far too quick and didn't feel authentic.

There's been two updates the other day, they just happen to be for Linux and Mac ;p
