anybody have any experience with ibm 21" monitor ibm p2

Post by blueznl »

i can buy them at 100 a piece, second hand, with 3 months guarantee, i was considering buying two of these... any comments?

(yeah, old crt's, but way cheaper than tft, i got the space, and i'd like 1600 x 1200 ie. 3200 x 1200 on my dual screen setup :-))

your advise is appreciated :-)

Back in the day, I used some Tatung and Sony 21" monitors... The lights would flicker when you turned them on!

Seriously, I don't know all the details regarding safety, but I think I would feel much better spending the day in front of a LCD monitor than in front of a CRT.

However... a 21" monitor for that price is hard to resist. I would like to have a couple for building some MAME boxes.

the chance to get headace from sitting in front of a monitor all day is by far less for a lcd than crt.
Its much more calm to look at for the eyes.. but for that price, if they can take some good refresh rates, i would go for them.

Nowadays are LCD(TFT) so cheap that it's not any advantage choosing CRT if you not are interested on having perfect color "imitation"(or what it is called).

LCD has longer a longer lifetime, and are much better for the eyes.

Very mature... Whats the deal dude? You have a personal problem with people who think CRTs might be bad for them or something?

ehh i dont care if its mature or not for you
but you prove me why everyone should stop using crts
for design you cant work with other than professional crt screens same goes for video editting etc. but if you are the average joe then go get an lcd as you wont need the crts features you just need to see while you chat and download warez and play games thats all

so prove me how bad crts are for peoples health and why they should switch. you do that and i will believe what you say if not i wont because you got no points yet just stereotypes.

I have a feeling that whatever evidence I provide would be ignored. All I could do it point you to countless web sites on the subject. I did not say anyone should stop using them. I have a couple of CRTs I use home and at work.

All I can say from personal experience that I have far more eye strain when sitting in front of an CRT all day. Looks like theFool agrees also.

Just relax, I'm not trying to get into a row over something so trivial.
