PlanetSquires - Cheetah DataBase is now FREEWARE

Post by whiteside »

Planet Squires has now released the Cheetah DLL as freeware.

I have been using this DLL for over a year now (bought and registered) and find it an excellent tool for standalone databases (xBASE compatable).

Why not go and try it at http://planetsquires.com/cheetah.htm , it is well worth a look, especially now that it is also FREE.

Geotrail,

:?: What are you smoking? A 73K DLL for a database enviroment is nicely sized IMHO and now that it's free, it should be on the top of your list.

I've used it since it came out and it is very fast and solid.

How does it compare with SQLite? Also does it support the SQL, "PASSWORD(' ')" ?

It is not a SQL based language, it is a set of DLL API calls that wrap dBase III type files.

One of the nice things that I use it for, is the ability to encrypt the databases.

It is VERY Fast, Multi user, and Robust.

Thats all I can say, download it if you want to know more.

It's called Petterøe's hehehehe

Anyways, that was just my oppinion as stated. And what about the little DB lib for PB? As of now I don't have the need for a full database system in my programs other than the current libs available for PB so for me this doesn't seem nessecary.

GeoTrail... you're right. But if you ever have a need, it is now available without the overhead of many larger programs and is much faster than most.

Hi Everyone,

I hope that PureBasic users find the Cheetah Database System useful. As time goes on the database will be re-written to make it even faster. Most of the dbase routines have already been re-written and are many times faster. Likewise, the indexing system is substantially faster. Hopefully these new routines will find their way into Cheetah in the coming months.

Sorry that I am not a PureBasic programmer so I can not converse in your language, but I am more than willing to try to answer whatever questions you guys may have.

Thanks

Hey Paul,

Thanks for keeping PureBasic in the Cheetah DB. One thing we've found
is that when other groups or companies work their magic in keeping us
in their loop. It benefits both sides.

A lot of people here are really looking for db alternatives. In the next
couple of weeks, I'm going to be evaluating Cheetah for an upcoming
project. What are the stipulations in using Cheetah in a commercial
application?
