How's the mac version ?

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

How's the mac version ?

Post by Polo »

Hi !
Does anybody has tested the mac PB version ? Is it good ? Does someone has a screenshot of what he has done there ?
I'm just hoping it'll be released soon, that way Fred will work again on the windows' one :)
How will be implemented api functions ? I hope opengl api will be in, and i REALLY hope it won't require some library to run, like linux which need gtk and sdl ;)
If no external libraries are needed and it is well, maybe i'll buy a mac (maybe :))

Well, according to a roadmap posted awhile ago, PB4 will sync all version together (so they will all have the same features). I think that was the goal for this year, so they will all be released at the same time.

Yes, but according to Fred's todo list, if i remember well, he planned to work fully on the mac version to make a stable release before switching on other tasks :)

 What price ?
I would also need a mac, not a good one, just to be able to make my stuff cross platform :)
I'm not interested anymore in linux but i've heard a lot about macos as a good os, so ... :)
But i can't really spend a fortune on it (i can't believe you paid only 200 euros for it !)
I would love to see my 3d engine in another platform than windows, doing a cross platform code is always good, because then you need to get all clean if you want it to work good, it makes the code less buggy ;)

This is the spec:
G3 APPLE IMAC POWERPC
OS X 10.3.5
Fully loaded with all software including Office 2004
30GB Harddrive
500MHZ
Integrated 56 kbps modem
DVD ROM Drive
384MB of RAM
Mouse and keyboard provided
Excellent condition, hardly used
Its actually a Graphite SE...

ebay item # 5167066900

The ebayer has a negative score, so I'm guessing thats why I got it for a good price...

I would love :)
I'll need a mac one day to test it (or i'll try to emulate mac osx with pearpc, but i haven't managed yet  )
BTW, Fred, what mac have you got ?
I heard they'll make a new mac mini with 512mb ram, so i won't buy any computer for the moment :)

Currently I'm using an iBook G3 900Mhz with 384 Mb of ram which is barely enough for all the developping stuffs.
