Good idea, a tutorial as part of the help system would be a good idea I think.

I know I am kinda thread hijacking here... but I saw something that the blitz community were upto for blitzmax, and I thought it maybe an interesting thing perhaps for purebasic community to do here, so take a look at http://www.blitzwiki.org and see what you think
basically, the users are writing better documentation as an online project. adding examples and stuff as they go. and the best bit, they are doing so with Marks blessing. he intends to include the revised documentation too.
Seeing as there are some very skilled programmers for PB, I think it could be an awesome project for the comunity to work on.
Just a thought, thats all

A Wiki was proposed here about a year ago, and, again, nothing was done.
The best example of a similar project is the PHP manual.
This kind of project has some chances to live only when the users-base is enourmous, so, even if 0.5% of the users have time to collaborate, the updates are still notable.
I wonder how many users PB really has...

Considering that Fred has recently gone to full-time PureBasic development,
I'd say quite a large number. Just because nobody seems interested in doing
this project doesn't mean the user base is small. It just means they'd rather
spend their time on other projects.

I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).
"PureBasic won't be object oriented, period" - Fred.

besides... don't let the lack of response discourage you

i will start working
i will start working on a online version and a chm file the problem is i'm not advanced in pure basic and i don't know how to explain every example in the CodeArchive or update the examples for a more recent version. but i'm preaty good with php so i will start a online version that will have the ability to be exported to a chm file or pdf. all i need for starters is a free php+mysql host with a decent space offer. like i said before anyone interested to help in this project please contact me. u don't need advanced knolege of pb or anything else just free time.

i'm currently working on an expansion of the pb survival guide, so i'm afraid i won't be much help, sorry... but anybody is free to drop in and help either you or me
come to think of it, what is the main thing that is currently missing from the survival guide that people think should be included?
