Does anyone know how to kill the DRM protection in a WMV file?
NOTE: It is a password protection for windows media files, and it doesn't allow to play (unless you are connected to internet and you know password) neither to copy those files.
Thanks

Get a better media player? The protection is only as powerful as the player
that decides to obey it.
Similar to region coding on DVD players.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

I use Classic Media Player with K-Lite codec pack.

I think the free BSPlayer (
http://www.bsplayer.org/ ) is a great video player. I'm not sure it will bypass the DRM password but its worth a try.
I wonder how this file would do in Linux? My Mplayer handles WMV files fine but I do not think I have seen one with DRM protection.

i think discussing bypassing media protection schemes is not entirely good for this board, not even in this forum...

That's exactly what I was thinking, too...
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.

But this is off-topic. And it is a technical question.
Grrr, Market vs Tech again
I've read somewhere that zoomplayer can do it, but i've tested it and no

Thank you very much to both, Einander and PB.
But as i can see it has nothing to do with the matter of this topic. Your suggest is for audio files, not video files. (WMA <> WMV)
Thanx again anyway
