Windows fax and image viewer - hijacked ?

Post by dagcrack »

I have this problem with the built-in windowsxp fax and image viewer... this started to happen since a month already: When I open an image, the application opens instantly but theres a lot of harddrive activity for about 5 seconds or even more and then it displays the pic. I thought: Lack of memory! but it isnt that. I already checked and memory is ok, lots of free usable memory.

So I dont know... anyone had this? knows what could be causing or be the problem? Im desperate, because I have fairly new hardware and this shoudlnt be happening!.

Thanks.

I use O&O defrag pro for that.. and once a week, all partitions on both harddrives.

I dont see why this windows image viewer needs to access the disk that much... In a programmer point of view, this is stupid, and so it could be a bug, I dont know. I just know that if I dont fix it between today and tomorrow.. I'll simply programm my own image viewer and thats all.. end of story.

I'd like to have this one fixed anyway I dont get why all this harddrive activity while opening a 2k jpeg image...... (its the same delay with a 20mb jpeg... so I dont know why is this).

I used to use those
My problem is that I just dont tend to let anormalies "be". if something is wrong or not normal, I wont switch to other thing, I will fix it as it must be! if its there then it must work if it isnt working normally then it should be fixed.

Not because I get a virus i'll switch to linux ;)

One of the first apps I load, when setting up a Windows PC, is a freeware image viewer called XnView. http://www.xnview.com

This image viewer has everything you need, plus more. Even has an SDK for application integration. XnView is from a French programmer Pierre-e Gouglet. The fact that he is French does not surprise me, they tend to be the best programmers out there (IMHO).

Russians are good programmers, but the fact that someone is russian does not mean he will programm better  maybe french people has more time for this, there should be an explaination.. if what you said its true, then there should be one!. I dont globalize people, I dont care from where they are, if they believe in god or not, just pick them if they work efficiently and they know what they are doing, and also.. if they have motivation, etc.

I don't usually like to "group" people like that... I do not want to derail the topic, but I noticed allot of good stuff comes from France (PureBasic for one...). I would also say that Germans are the best making cars (love my Bimmer). Russians are good programmers too though, I have used "allofmp3.com" services in the past and everything worked flawlessly both using the web service and the Windows app.

These are all personal opinions though...
