Hello,
This forum is a good place to ask for help.
In this case, you just need to be a bit more precise.
Which Purebasic version are you using ?
What OS are you using ? WinXP ? Win2000 ? Win95 ? Linux ? AmigaOS ?
What kind of Internet connection are you using ? Is it firewalled ? Are you hiding behind a proxy ?

Strange. Try a reinstallation of pb...

Yes, the email support sometimes is not the best, sorry for that.

There might be several reasons:
# You are using a proxy.
Proxies are not supported by the tool yet. Dunno when that'll be fixed.
You'll need to download the update package from the website.
# You are using an old PB version ( < 3.91 )
In this case it doesn't work, because SmartUpdate in that version didn't
support the password protection, which is required now.
You'll need to update your PB with the package from the website once,
then it should work in the future.
# Wrong username/password
Can you login to the download page on the website?
You need the same data, only that the username (email address) is
case sensitive in SmartUpdate.
If it is not one of the above, please give some more info on the problem.

Very strange.
Are they in the "Residents" directory of PB, with .res extension?
Did you restart PB after putting them there?
It should work then. Maybe the file is corruped somehow?

That tool is not part of PB, so you won't get much help from support there.
I wrote that one a very very long time ago, but haven't been using it
for years. I don't really have a clue what might be wrong there.
Try its uninstall option (if possible) and install it again, maybe that helps.
