Utterly Jaw dropping system

WOW. just WOW. almost brought a tear to my eye because it is so beautiful. sniff sniff. only drawback is that there is no AGP slot, but i did some poking around and the next release of that board will support AGP 8X and DDR3 ECC REG memory. let me just recount:

4 AMD 64 bit 2.4Ghz processors with 1MB cache each and HYPERTRANSPORT
32 Gigs DDR memory
coming support for AGP 8X

can i get a "HELL YEAH"?

Code: Select all

!.WHILE status != dwPassedOut
! Invoke AllocateDrink, dwBeerAmount
!MOV Mug, Beer
!Invoke Drink, Mug, dwBeerAmount
!.endw

HELL YEAH!

...why is everything "utterly jaw dropping" these days? ;)
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.

I'm still waiting for dual core CPUs and GPus as well as multiple CPU sockets and GPU slots (PCI Express/SLI) but you guys have heard me go on about this before... :D

what intel should do is take the other core and specialize it for floating point and have the other one specialized for intergal and the such that in it self would screw over amd :lol:

server shmerver. when this board has an AGP slot in 2 months intel will have NOTHING that even comes close to this kind of power. sorry but intel's 64 doesnt hold a candle to opteron. hey, ive got a dual zeon system and love it to death. but come on, 4 64 bit PROCESSORS??? with the equivalent of 64 bit hyperthreading? 8 GIGS of DDR ram for each processor for a total of 32? paaaahlease. intel just took it in the shorts on this one. intel designed for "high clock ratings", while AMD rated their processor at ROOM TEMPERATURE (not 32 F) and designed for maximum interface capability. AMD was patient and designed their 64 bit for next generation capability.

Code: Select all

!.WHILE status != dwPassedOut
! Invoke AllocateDrink, dwBeerAmount
!MOV Mug, Beer
!Invoke Drink, Mug, dwBeerAmount
!.endw

Big Iron has always been there if you are willing to spend the money. Just buying the montherboard and processors there you've spent almost $6,000.

64bit processing has been around for *years*, even at those prices. I had (rather, worked with) dual 64bit DEC Alpha boxes in the mid 90s.

If the price ever comes down to make these kinds of machines possible for desktop computing then that will be something! That, and software vendors start writing software for 64bit systems. Don't hold your breath for that to happen for several more years though.

Having said all that. Buy me one! :-)
