Is 3.92 a major or minor release?

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

Is 3.92 a major or minor release?

Post by Amiga5k »

Glad to see some activity on the "news" section, which I check very regularly... Happy to see an update at the top (3.92)!

I've noticed that updates come appoximately every 2 or 3 months. With the release of 3.92, does this mean that 4.0 is another 2 or 3 months away or is 3.92 a minor fix for 3.90?

Just wondering.

3.92 is a bugfix release, but an important one at that.
There will probably be no more other Releases for PB (Windows) before 4.0 .
4.0 will take quite a while, as there are a lot of promised features to implement

I'll second blueznl's suggestion

I like smaller releases as they give you time to test, implement and work around problems, code breaking because of changes and bugs in new compiler releases and a big release might just break everything!!

At the moment, I can code small hacks around compiler bugs or lacks; clearly commented; and (almost) easily replace them when a new compiler release comes out to fix/update/replace/break my code

I'd like to see PB 4 and BlitzMax <ducks> come out about the same time, but it looks like BM will be here first (after a year delay...). I plan on using both, but it will be interesting to compare them.

Techjunkie: look here: http://www.blitzbasic.co.nz/Community/p ... opic=39297

basically.. it says that for just about three weeks ago, Mark Sibly logged on to one of the BB IRC channels. About BMax he said that it's basically done, but he needs a couple of weeks to get it release ready, then another week or so setting the online payment stuff up..

So, in essence, it should be far off.. :)
