Task Manager - one 2 many ?

Post by Codemonger »

Just played a quick game of starwars online ... a little tension breaker .. anyway it kicked me out of the game right in the middle of it and I find myself in windows with the program still running on the task bar and everything moving to a crawl ... hmm not good ... anyway i press the good ol ctrl-alt-delete to get task manager and shut starwars down :(

well stuffs still loading and things are crawling and I'm getting frustrated and sure enough , no task manager yet . damn

So I hold down ctr-alt and hit delete multiple times, still nothing, then I do some more key combos and then some more to no avail.

Then suddenly taskmanager appears !

but wait - its still slow, a dead crawl and I'm even more frustrated than before .. and something wierd is happening .. damn , I made things worse ... NOW I have 34 task managers running!! - anyway my question is this :

Why does the task manager not check to see if an instance of itself is running ? is it needed to have 34 task managers running or even 2 ? Why not just one ?

havent had time to think about it, just curious.

If Task Manager itself crashed/froze, and you couldn't start another, then how
would you regain control of your PC? It's handy to be able to run it twice.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).
