aw come on, just teasin' a little!

(it was not intended as an insult, i've been living in germany, netherlands, poland, france, canada, china, and working in all of those plus a few work visits to switzerland, italy, us, britain, italy, and ehm, some more :-))

so far, one of the best places to live has been paris, one of the worst has been munich (but not THE worst, that's reserved for either shenzhen or new delhi)

so i was just teasing a little, don't take it too hard

Well bluewhatsoever. You should mind your words, as there are many germans here reading that (me included). And I like my country very much and yes, I'm also proud of it (well, at least the part after 1949 :) )

well, i think everybody is entitled to his / her own opinion, and tastes will differ

i don't care much about nationalities or countries, more about cultural differences... who cares what the passport says, it's the behaviour that counts

i have some trouble understanding national pride... i mean, if someone burns a flag, it's not your country that's on fire, it's just a piece of cloth...

if i would have to be proud of my country, it would be the fact that china used a few dutch companies to help them with tax reforms :? :?

so, again, no offense meant, we all do or don't like the place we live, in fact it doesn't matter where you live as a. it still rains, b. there are still cars, fastfood and women, and c. we all pay too much tax (and d. we all know that our dear govenrments manage to waste part of that tax)

i'll add some smilies in case someone misunderstands this as well and calls me stupid again (hey, i am, but that is supposed to be a state secret)

:D :) :( :o  :? 8O :x :P

Well, with "proud of my country" I didn't meant the nationality or something crappy like that. I meant the people (well, most of them), the landscape, the attitude etc.

Can't we all just 'Get Along' ? ;)

After all, we should be proud of Europe, shouldn't we ?

I'm from England, and I do love many things about it......

But I also love France, NL, Germany, Spain etc for many different reasons and find everyone to be friendly....

I don't think Blue was being stupid or nasty... I may have also said something similar 8O , but it would be in a friendly teasing way too....

It's funny how humour differs from culture to culture and whilst I can see that Blue's comment was supposed to be funny, and to me it was.... other cultures would not see this.

We British are a strange bunch in that we're always making jokes about ourselves, our country, how we live but in other cultures this would be totally unacceptable, and unheard of.....

We're all different and sometimes we get the wrong end of the stick... but in this case Blue has said that it was meant as a joke, and if you can't see that, it doesn't mean that it's not a joke... It's just your culture is different!

Anyway, I'm waffling on a bit :D

Let's all kiss and make up ;)

Thx

Though at the moment I'm quite confident about the spanish women -
well, at least the look of them ;-) (*erm* hope my girlfriend won't read that)

@Blue: Never called you stupid ;-)
@dontmailme: oh, our cultures aren't that different, believe me. Also I like the british humour very much (I like reading Douglas Adams, Terry Prattchet, Robert Rankin and well, even Tolkien has a little bit of humour in his writings)
