Skin/Theme Engine...Free?

For everything that's not in any way related to PureBasic. General chat etc...

Should we offer our skin engine free for freeware developers?

@DominiqueB
That must be a bug in my javascript... I have it set to detect a change in text size and refresh... It must be detecting incorrectly, I'll take it out when I get the time...

Thank you very much for pointing that out!

The project is still alive and well :)

Update:
->Fixed all known bugs in the FreeStyle engine...
->Added the ability to reference any SkinObject by name (Defined in the editor)
The editor still needs work... But here's a screenie for those impatient people :)

I hope there's still some interest in this engine :D :D :D

It's rather ugly ATM... Our artist hasn't taken a shot at it yet... she's working on other things until it's complete...
So it'll get a visual overhaul later :)

Sure. A lot!

but may i point out, that you maybe should make a webpage for this project on your website.
Just telling a little about it, so people know a little about it.
The only thing i find about this project is
FreeStyle Goes into Beta Testing!
and a little article. I dont know if its time to make a webpage for it, but maybe it would be a good idea.

@thefool
Thanks for your input
I agree with you 100%... However, I'm not the person in charge of the site :oops:... I'm a little frustrated about this myself...
I'd give you our web designer's email, but she doesn't ever check it... :evil:

GRRRRR...back to work :roll:

well i know its polyvector that should answer this, but i do it for him so he can code instead of answering this post :twisted: . but he can always correct me, but i guess its correct, as a beta tester.

as said, I am a beta tester on FreeStyle, as the skin engine is called, and i can say its really in progress. Its fantastic good, with no flickering at all. And he is developing, everytime one finds a bug, its fixed fast :P
But its up to PolyVector to decide when the project is ready to be released. But it look great now. Very great!

Thanks fool...
Yes, I'm very pleased with the progress of FreeStyle... The main things holding us up are proper documentation, examples, and bugs... I believe that people will find this engine easy to use, yet very powerfull... The best person to ask about details would be thefool (if he's free) since he has used the engine more than I have :lol:

I appologize for the delay in release, but we want things done right the first time...
I'm happy that there is still interest :D

Free for all freeware development...
It'll cost something if you use it in a commercial(or ad-supported) product.
That is exactly what I would have suggested... if you want to credit those who believe in freeware, and still leave yourself open to profit.

Actually, I've heard bad things about that type of licensing from a number of shareware developers... They said that people simply won't register if they don't have to... So, with that in mind, we're moving to a more standard shareware format...

Two questions. Is this possible to use in VB? And... how far along are we? Do you have an ETA yet?

Oh yes a third question, how much for a commercial license?

@Shannara
VB handles controls in a completely non-standard way... (Thank you Microsoft for not using your own standards!)... So VB support is not very functional at the moment... Eventually we will add support for VB and many other compilers....
We are basicly complete with the core of the package(Engine and ThemeBuilder)... We're working out bugs and docs now... We don't have an ETA yet as we are usually very busy with other things... I would expect it to be within a month... Just don't quote me on that :)
A commercial license will probably be around $70 USD...
