Uhg, yeah like Weizen is better? Or was that Halfe-Weizenbier with Lemon?

Nah, American consumer beer is just watery pale ale-ish. However, there are scores, hundreds of micro-brewed beers made in the US which follow the traditional German brewing much more closely. I remember being in Southern Germany somewhere, and drinking I believe it was EKU? Freaking highest alcohol content in the world. Small little bottles too. Several of those and I was pretty good. But the best was Oktoberfest, and the winter beers. Dopple Bock, and I think there was a triple bock too. You wanna talk nasty? That was it, but it did the trick.

Japanese beer is excellent, but then they follow the German tradition as well. Bass, Moosehead and Molsen are all excellent if you get the chance.

Every ethnic/cultural group manages to screw up something. Americans in general don't discriminate well with beer, but then neither do the English IMHO. But we do have _some_ people who do like the better stuff. Here's an interesting link: http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:sDsR ... bier&hl=en

You're all big girls blouses.
Irish stout rules.
I like it even better now the Irish have stopped trying to blow us up.
I always found that slightly tainted my enjoyment of anything from the emerald isle.

As for Canada I heard from a Canadian living in a country that borders America is like having a drunken neighbour, you wave politely and hope they don't come over.

I don't know why but Norwegians, Swedes, Danes and Fins are all considered cool in the England.

You're missing out on some fantastic US brewers

Post by USCode »

but American beer is really nasty
If you are talking strictly about the few big commercial brewers, then I would agree. But there are literally hundreds of brewers in the US and these microbrewerys make some of the best beer in the world. So to say "American" beer is nasty is just untrue.

That could be true, don't know. The problem is, here in Europe you get rarely one of those beers, only Budweiser and the like. I would prefer drinking dishwater before drinking Bud ;-)
In the KDW shopping center in Berlin they sell all kind of beers from around the world, think you should get one or the other good american beer there too. But I'm not from Berlin so I can't try :cry:

The vikings land.

Jon wrote:Um ....... XXXX, really you Aussies should learn to spell ;)
We Aussies (from the tropical North-East, anyway) are an economical people.

Code: Select all

     X = How we sign our names
    XX = Food.
   XXX = Naughty stuff
  XXXX = Beer

There is no XXXXX as there is nothing else of importance.
Jon wrote:rotfl, also it tases like crap!
Well, I can't make any comparisons having never tried crap - but you Kiwis must have the best tasting crap in the whole world. :) :wink:
