Uhg, yeah like Weizen is better? Or was that Halfe-Weizenbier with Lemon?kake26 wrote:Okay, I've never had Canadian beer, so I can't say anything bad about it, but American beer is really nasty. Might as well drink water with yellow food coloring and call it beer. If anyone wants to know what real beer is goto German enough said. Hell, might as well call it land o' beer.
Nah, American consumer beer is just watery pale ale-ish. However, there are scores, hundreds of micro-brewed beers made in the US which follow the traditional German brewing much more closely. I remember being in Southern Germany somewhere, and drinking I believe it was EKU? Freaking highest alcohol content in the world. Small little bottles too. Several of those and I was pretty good. But the best was Oktoberfest, and the winter beers. Dopple Bock, and I think there was a triple bock too. You wanna talk nasty? That was it, but it did the trick.
Japanese beer is excellent, but then they follow the German tradition as well. Bass, Moosehead and Molsen are all excellent if you get the chance.
Every ethnic/cultural group manages to screw up something. Americans in general don't discriminate well with beer, but then neither do the English IMHO. But we do have _some_ people who do like the better stuff. Here's an interesting link: http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:sDsR ... bier&hl=en
