hello,
I saw some of you seem to run into the same problem as I do:
at some graphic cards some modes are shown differently.
For example: input 6, output 14
At radeon 9500 and newer (couldnt test older ones) a black/yellow 3Dsprite (fire) is shown correctly transparaent at black, semi transparent at "dark-black" and sold at yellow parts.
at nvidia cards it is shown transparent at black parts only.
I ve written a small tool to check out all available combinations of blendingmodes and transparency with different sprites. It also shows 1 example screenshot of blendings-mistakes at geforce cards.
Please feel free to download it (412Kb). You can of course replace my sprites with your ones and check out effects for your games.
If you can create the same graphic effects with nvidia cards as the included screenshot show, please let me know.
(and excuse the un-userfriendly look, originally it wasnt written to be public)
if the site is not available, geocities does block my site for 1 hour becase of too much traffic, please try again later.

D3D Blending mode problems
Re: D3D Blending mode problems
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.
yep thx. I saw this already a few days ago, this was the reason to upload my tool.
My tool shows the effects directly at the sprites u use within your game.
Check the screenshot in your thread and play around with my program watching this screenshot, you see many different effects you dont see at this screenshot.
[edit]
btw, if some of you like this program and want to test with your own sprites, I can implement a new button, so you can load your own sprites
