Had enough whining!

Post by Phollyer »

Folks

I've received messages and comments from several of you, whine and complain about my website asking for your email and asking you to sign up to my Monthly Newsletter (which will most likely be Quarterly) before you can download something from my site. So Here is my answer.

FIRST:
Obviously NONE whiners, know how to read. I have a posted my privacy statement. I will NOT, for any reason sell or share your precious email address. I know, the conspiracy theory your believing! That there are hundreds of people dying to give me millions of dollars to sell your addresses. I hate to be the one to tell you that NO ONE cares about your email address. And I would not sell it anyway.  Aren't you ALL developers? Aren't you supposed to be above average problem solvers? Don't Give me your Email! Put in xxx@xxx.com...DUH!

SECOND:
<< News FLASH >> Check boxes have 2 states, ON AND OFF!!! Don't want to receive newsletters then UNCHECK the BOX! Boy that was Simple!!!! I'm only going to send out when I have a Sale, You go ahead and pay full price...no problems.

THIRD:
Whining that I did not BUILD out your Menus, as I use ProGUI Menus, when I am giving a couple thousand lines of my hard work on creating an RTFGadget; falls on deaf ears too. BUILD your Own menus. If, you cannot figure that out, then I assure you the RTF Code is WAY WAY above your ken. I'm not about to spoon-feed you code on a silver spoon. Anything not earned and learned is soon forgotten.

Thank You,
Pete

I've had 1 too many messages accusing me of "harvesting" information and forcing people to sign up for the newsletter. LOL!
Gosh you'd think I was Google or Microsoft!

Given that you had to be badgered to make your site secure, HeX0R and others have a legit concern, based on your documented history.

Given that your site is still broken and images are NOT loading, it does not speak to "trust me".

Given that you were wanting to illegally collect sales tax does not speak to "trust me". It shows a naivety of general business law.

Given that you were even considering changing the database format and expecting people to be okay with sending you the database to convert, does not speak to "trust me". Anybody using your license program could have easily been sued for giving private customer info to you to convert.

This isn't playing store like when we were kids. This is real life, and although I do NOT sell outside of the USA at this point, if you do, you are legally required to adhere to just about every stipulation of the GDPR. If you don't, any EU based customer would merely have to file a complaint and the EU agency in charge of GDPR enforcement would likely get involved. Lawyers, especially those that specialize in international law, are extremely expensive. Even if you are NOT selling to the EU, if your site can merely be visited by somebody from the EU (whether they have an account on your site or don't), your site must comply with the GDPR.

You are playing store and advertising your software on the forum, and yet you are openly attacking your potential customers for expressing legit concerns, which are solely based on your lackadaisical attitude when it comes to standard business practices. After starting this thread, I am sure many will give second and even third thoughts before giving you their hard-earned money. Generally when you attack and bully your potential customers, you have all but destroyed your business for good. That is a reputation almost impossible to come back from. A shame, because you genuinely have some nice software.
Best wishes to the PB community. Thank you for the memories. ♥️
