[6.03-b7/8] Project files corrupted

Post by WilliamL »

Oh, I don't know where to start. I've got a bunch of random problems that leaves the original pb files corrupted. I have to completely replace the project folder to start over.

I compile my project and find that one constant name is changed [b7] (everwhere). I compile again and another constant name is changed. I ran beta 8 this morning and the 'Resources' folder is missing (never seen this before). Corrupted variables seem to be fixed in Beta 8. I gave up on beta 8 so I don't know what else might be happening.

Needless to say, the program doesn't run and I'm not real motivated to try corrupting more of my code.

I'm hoping someone else is seeing this behavior before I start using b7 or b8 again (b6 is fine).

Are you running b8?

I don't use projects or Mac.
I use xincludefile's.

Beta 8 compiles now on windows without corruption.

The english grammar is freeware, you can use it freely - But it's not Open Source, i.e. you can not change it or publish it in altered way.

NicTheQuick,

I see you've reported this already but in the IDE forum. Looks the same and it's even on the windows side.

I think I'll give the PB team a chance to fix this before giving up on projects but it is really a pain when you run the code and it corrupts (whatever) and then you have to go to a backup to start over. Lesson learned for the next beta.

I did not report it, I just wanted to link it for you.

Thanks anyway NicTheQuik, :)

Still having problem in Beta 8 but not the constants. Folder still seems altered some way. Maybe someone else can figure it out.

Beta 8 should solve it. It's very rare a bug corrupt source files and I apologize for that. That said, you shouldn't use beta for real projects, but only on copies to validate it working. Thanks to all beta testers it can be a bit tough sometimes!

Hi Fred,

When I first ran Beta 8 had a message that my Resources file was missing which gave all kinds of problems so I bailed.

Starting with a fresh folder I ran the Beta 8 with no problems. I ran another project and it didn't have any problems.

I think this is my mistake and I see what I was doing wrong. (I'm surprised I fell for this after all this time)
