Lost license recovery

Post by mschmalenbach »

Hi

I have lost my license details and access to the email account I used many years ago when I first bought PureBasic online.

I've emailed the folks at Pure Basic about this on several occasions but received no response at all.

Does anybody know if there's an automated way to recover my license details or an alternative way to get in touch with Pure Basic direct?

Many thanks in advance,

Martin.

If you remember which e-mail address you have, you can reset your password.
But you must still have the e-mail address.

I know the email address, it's at my last employer, but I don't have access to that anymore.

You can login into your PureBasic account with the e-mail address that you used for registering, and with the corresponding password:
https://www.purebasic.com
That e-mail address is just for identifying you. For login, it doesn't matter whether or not it still works for receiving/sending e-mails.

For password recovery, you can use your login e-mail address (if it works), or your contact e-mail address that you have set in your user account.

My login email no longer exists, and it's also my contact email, so when I click the "Password lost" link it wants to send an email to that address to reset it... which I can't access. Luckily Firefox has my password saved, but if it hadn't, I'd never be able to reset my password. It's a big flaw that needs fixing.

Or someone to monitor & react to support emails asking for help; that's unfortunate that no one responded...

You can change your contact email, so you can recover your password easily.

My case is okay but think about others: you can't change your contact email until you log in. And you can't log in if you've forgotten your password, because it tries to send the password reset to a non-available contact email. See what I mean? It's a Catch-22.

Well, how do you want to solve this if you don't have access to your email ? You need to contact the support and I usually answer in a few hours (but not when I'm in holiday :))

The forgotten password link could have security questions to ask instead, that the user set up when they signed up. Like lots of other accounts do.

I think it's not a good idea to purchase a personal individual license using a corporate email address. There will always be a question who paid for the license and who legally owns it.

If you no longer owns [Mail Address removed (Kiffi)] and also forgot the password, your should blame yourself and happily pay for a new license imo.
