What's going on with the 3D Engine?

Post by Krix »

Hey PureBasic team, Just wondering if there is any plan with PB Ogre3D? The last comment from Pf Shadoko is from 2022 July...and there are quite a few issues with the engine as it is in v6. Stability is most important. Can't do much with anything that is good on paper but not working correctly. And as long as the 1.x Ogre is supported, please leave in the DX9 renderer in since it is significantly faster on windows than Ogre 1.x OpenGL renderer. Or do you have other plans, solution? Anything you guys can share? My suggestion for short term solution please put back the "old system" in v6 and just make it as bug free as possible. Thanks.

I agree, at least it should be stable.

Mby its just time to move on, the current Ogre 13.6 is already lightyears ahead.

I agree than OGRE support needs a (big) upgrade, but it's very verty time consuming so I don't know when it will be done. We will try to bug fix it, that's why I created a separate forum to monitor more easily the current bugs.

An idea:
@fred make this part of PureBasic "open source" like the IDE)
Belive! C++ version of Puzzle of Mystralia
<Wrapper>4PB, PB<game>, =QONK=, PetriDish, Movie2Image, PictureManager,...

It could be a great way, it's already mostly a wrapper over OGRE, nothing really fancy here. But won't be easy to compile and work with, be warned.

Using PureBasic gets always a warning (at least a virus warning ;))
Ok not really a joke.

Its like with the open source IDE : Not all Pure Basic developer working/helping to improve the IDE (isn't needed right)
