If you missed it, there is a 5+ hour interview with one of the masters of Doom on YouTube and podcast platforms.

I love this team (ID Software) for other than Doom :
Commander Keen 1 (speedrun). Seven minutes of speedrun to imagine walking, marooned on Mars, and search the 4 technical parts of your spaceship to go back to the Earth in 1990, through a 16-colours screen (EGA). I played this game in 1993 from 360Kbytes 5¼ floppy disk, when I had near nothing other excepted Debug.Com, gwBasic.Exe in Dos 3.2 and in Dos 4.01. Just see this speedrun after years and years of forget, it's very few for everybody, but it's magic for me !

You will think I am very off topic. But...

There have been 9 "Commander Keen" games (3 trilogies). Also, there was a lot of hard work that went unrewarded. Another business strategy would have been to lose Commander Keen on Mars or another planet, and have his little brother or sister pick him up in a 3D concept. I think this team would have had an even bigger comeback than Doom. There would have been more pedagogy, less violence, more intelligence. This would have had an influence on the cinema itself. Unfortunately, it was the era of proof of performance through horror (Jurassic Park, the movie), and there was perhaps in Doom an answer to give to games on the Amiga, a message to say that the PC was beginning to supplant the other configurations.

So, thank you even John Carmack ! (ID Software team)
