i would like to be able to use a drop-down menu to access
external .exe files too.
such as MSPaint for working on sprites
or my sound editor/recorder
or .....
i like that method better than having lots of icons on my desktop,
which gets pretty cluttered when working anyway.

I've been wanting this for the last year, but Fred doesn't like the
idea (as told to me in IRC). Here's my original request:

You can already do this with the "Tool" editor. Here's an example of
how to launch the Calculator from a menu in the PureBasic editor:
(1) Click the "Tools" menu and select "Config Tools".
(2) In the "Command Line" box, type: calc.exe
(3) In the "Menu Item Name" box, type: Calculator
(4) If desired, select a keyboard shortcut for this menu.
(5) Click the "Add" button at lower-left to add this menu.
(6) Click the "OK" button at bottom-left to close the config tool.
Now, click the "Tools" menu again, and select "Calculator"...
Or, just press your specified shortcut key to launch it.

I don't see how the current Tools menu is any different from adding a user's "Tool" to the menu (which is what Beriko's request sounds like - to have user configurable toolbar buttons). Obviously a bit more work, but....Originally posted by PB

I had big plans for the editor, but then realised that with each new
PureBasic release, I would have to re-insert the code and re-compile,
and hope I don't break the "real" editor in the process. As such,
I've put the plans into the "too hard" basket.

Couldn't you get access to the CVS for the editor source and branch off your own revision until you complete your additions? (You could merge changes from the real editor to your branch, and only have to worry about breaking your editorOriginally posted by PB

To be honest I don't really understand the CVS concept, and nor have
I actually tried to learn it yet either. It's not a priority for my
apps at this time, so I'll leave my editor plans on the shelf for now.

I never notice that its there.
In another point:
I was thinking in the possibilitie of add Plugins to the editor and i think it could be great since many of us can do and release different plugins that adds some features to the editor or to the coding activitie (like PBToolBox).
I hope that other users (and Fred!) are agree with the idea.
Best Regards
