Post by PB »

Does this mean it's another GIF-type issue all over again?

It is possible view DjVu images in PB? (With some plugin or dll)
What is the extension of DjVu images?
I see this format two days ago, but I still couldn't make any test....

as long as companies are run by people who care more about infights, politics and wasy money than common sense, good product and happy customers these things will keep on happening

the new copyright / patent laws are *very* scary and might kill off part of the industry, i hope they will be revoked...

Applying a patent AFTER doing it a standard with a 'free' version (no nobody knew about this issue for the JPEG) is simply crap.

This thing about patents is just getting out of hand.

Maybe soon, one will get sued for whistling a well known tune.

PS, By the way, my patent for sex has just been aproved.

Relax, as I read the other day this patent only applies to Movies and not to JPG.

Software patents aren't bad in itself ...
...but people tend to misuse them, so I came to the conclusion that Software patents are indeed evil

I don't think so, because the article at the URL I posted has a link that states:
"Forgent's 'fields of use' for licensing opportunities include [...] devices used to
compress, store, manipulate, print or transmit digital images."
In other words,
personal computers and/or applications like PureBasic? Who knows? :(

I think I'll patent life.

" .. including but not limited to creative processes, restorative processes, maintenance functions and processes, and similar life-giving or life-enhancing processes, and all variations and extensions thereof .. "

Regards the patent on sex? Possibly procreative - see you in court ..

Thank goodness for patent-free or open-source formats like Ogg Vorbis and PNG.

It's really sad because in the end everyone benefits with an open format (lots more third party support because of lack of licensing issues).

Money is not the root of all evil...but greed is. And it comes in many forms (money, power, etc).
