The same goes for me... I would like to see PB evolve and are willing to pay a couple of extra bucks for it...

Me too... although I started with AMOS on the Amiga, until I found out that
AMOS wasn't really OS-friendly with Intuition etc. Then I bought Blitz (still
got the box/manual, but no floppies... hmm) and never looked back. I even
wrote this back in 1997: http://members.vol.at/amiga/blitz/blitzop.html
Oh, and I also used to code on the Commodore 64 and convert my BASIC
programs to machine code with the Blitz! Compiler -- spooky! 8O
Oh, man! I thought 'PB' stood for Pure Basic all this time, not your initials -- I actually learned from that document, in AmigaGuide form! That's so cool!
Listen, I'm known for my frank talk so here it comes...
I produce commercial quality programs.
I originally purchased BlitzPlus, and frankly, I wanted my money back after 3 months. The bloated applications were a joke. Especially when your business model involves downloading where bandwidth and total amount of megs per month with an additional .10 per meg applies.
I felt ripped off. Found Purebasic, and the rest was history. Completed the projects, re-wrote my engine which was a slick 30K compared to BlitzPlus which was 2 megs, PureBasic was faster, more powerful, leak proof code with ability to use API commands like Destroy. My BlitzPlus code kept leaking in the main .exe and no options available to stop it.
I'm not going to waste anymore time writing, suffice to say, PureBasic can't compare to anything. I've also produced code in Microsoft Visual C++, and again, PureBasic was superior.
I've made more money with PureBasic than any other program except for Thinstall. Literally thousands of dollars to date for a one time $60. What other investment can compare for $60??
Now 3D programming in PureBasic, that's a different matter. PureBasic is superior to anything in 2D applications on Earth, but in 3D, that's a competitive cut-throat market and, PureBasic using OGRE doesn't compare to the 2D side of PureBasic.
I still think that if Fred could write an assembly like 3D engine that was lightning fast, he'd have the rest of the 3D game programming market cornered. But again, that would probably raise the price to $500 minimum and take years to write. For now Blitz3D is the easiest, most powerful language for writing 3D Games (and yes, Blitz3D beats DarkBasic which is just too slow). But don't waste your money on BlitzPlus. And I agree, BlitzMax will be worth looking at as it may be closer to PureBasic, but I do have my doubts about any author/company that would produce junk like BlitzPlus (which is notorius for leaky bloated .exes) for sale.
That's the exact same impression I got, that it was a way to get more money fast, and it probably worked for Mark. I was so pleased with Blitz3D, that after reading the marketing literature for BlitzPlus, I just jumped right into it and wasted the money thinking the author of Blitz3D created BlitzPlus so it has got to be great.
My idiotic mistake, didn't do the research, got caught up in the marketing literature and my emotions got the better of me. Rather than fight for a refund, I thought giving suggestions on where it lacked, and with regular updates it would all get fixed...NOT! After 2 months of no responses (some legal trouble between Mark Sibly and Guildhall Leisure) and no updates, I said forget it, I'll do a tax write-off as a research and development expense.

I have to agree to that for applications. However PB severly lacks in the 2D graphics department, as seen in the games and bug forums
However PB severly lacks in the 2D graphics department
LOL !!
PureBasic has far more flexability in the 2D graphics department than Blitz does. I own Blitz and it's 2D functions just do not compare to PureBasic's.
Of course if you put any tool in the hands of someone who is new to it, they will have problems using that tool to its fullest capacity.
It is best to learn the tool, use the tool and then try and push it to it's limits before making such outrageous statements.

Lol, you of all people should know my statement is true You have been to those forums and can see for yourself. When compared to Blitzbasic or max or whatever, PB comes on top, doesnt account for the fact of how lacking it is, and you know it.. or do you need reminding post links? lol.

I agree - the product isn't finished - just a way to get more money fast... I stick to mine, though - $60 isn't so much...
Did you get your refund?
You guys are so funny! Apparently, many of you have never even been to Blitz's website: Commercial releases happen on a weekly basis! (How many Purebasic commercial releases can you name?)
Not finished? And Purebasic is? People in glass houses...
B+ is essentially Blitz 2D with the gui elements thrown in, and B2D had more than a few commercial releases. No 3D yet, but that's what Blitz 3D is for! And BlitzMax will follow suit. Probably around the time PB 4.0 hits the market...hopefully with full 3D and complete manuals.
Whatever.
