Hi.
Using Internet Explorer with SmartScreen activated, PureBasic full download is blocked.
Why? And why not intervene somehow?

Why does SmartScreen filter block PB downloads ?
Re: Why does SmartScreen filter block PB downloads ?
That`s normal for downloads without a digital signature.
PureBasic 5.73 | SpiderBasic 2.30 | Windows 10 Pro (x64) | Linux Mint 20.1 (x64)

Because Microsoft think they're the internet police and they want Fred to pay kickbacks to stop the warning.es_91 wrote:Why?

With all due respect, you both are wrong.
A long-running Internet Explorer user, and now mainly Edge.
SmartScreen never ever blocked any of the PB installers.
If downloading executable, and it's not digitally signed, and freshly released. You'll see upon download completion;
I know for a fact I never been blocked from downloading PB installers in the past. Downloading any PB new or otherwise packages, via .com domain extension, all are ' blocked '.
I don't know if I've tested fr domain. Fred anyway recently corrected SSL issue on the .fr domain. The different PB downloads are definitely not blocked when I've tested since.
Through .com domain, the PB installer download(S), all that I've tested are affected, blocked by SmartScreen.

- blahblahblah.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer.

- PureBasic_5.*.exe is unsafe to download and was blocked by SmartScreen Filter.

On the two 5.43 packages, I've reported them as 'I think its safe' (only option available.)
I've told Fred about another option that exists for owners, however I'm uncertain if he bothered with it.

Re: Why does SmartScreen filter block PB downloads ?
Yes it's because it's not signed. I could create a zip instead, like the demo version which pass the 'smart screen' which is obviously not very smart.
Re: Why does SmartScreen filter block PB downloads ?
The digital signed files would stop SmartScreen from blocking, or the requirement of few downloads before it stops showing an SmartScreen alert about 'not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer' upon download completion.
Your installers downloaded through the .com domain name, is specifically being classed as 'unsafe' and are blocked.
Downloading through .com domain name previously, I've never had SmartScreen BLOCK your installers before.
Also downloading your installers through the .fr domain name currently, there's no SmartScreen alerts. Not blocked from downloading, nor complaining about not commonly downloaded. The installers currently not digitally signed besides.

Re: Why does SmartScreen filter block PB downloads ?
Thank you. So i can try downloading via .fr domain and things should work? How come? Maybe i should try the german domain as well and tell everyone who cares not to use .com domain, though i still not know how .com should be reported in any other kind than vandalism. And that should be reportable to Microsoft, don't you think they would lift the block?
Anyway, thanks for now. Greetings and ...later!
