I'm a newbie

Post by deadmoap »

I just downloaded the PureBasic demo and plan to buy it. I have a few questions:

1) Does PB support printers?
2) Is there an online, more organized documentation for the commands?
3) Is there an online tutorial for beginning PB? Yes I saw the one in the FAQ above but it's very basic and is only for DOS.

I'm experienced in BlitzBasic and a little in C++, so I know all about programming in general. I'm just looking for a more organized referrance for the commands than what is in the help file.

re: documentation vs. community

Post by wdurden »

Hi: I am a newbie as well and just recently bought the product. I too was a little concerned because unlike some other environments that I have worked in I couldn't lay hands on a nice thick paper tome to consult. I still believe one would be useful, but from short personal experience I have to agree with what was said about the community. It is incredibly responsive, and just tonight I posted a problem with a big chunk of ugly code and someone sent back the code reworked and corrected. I was wonderfully surprised. From reading many other posts, that seems to be the norm. The sense of security a book in hand would give would be nice, but I don't think you would be going out on a limb very far getting on board judging from the message board.... And the built in help documentation is really better than I realized at first as well and plenty of good examples in the source files....

Good luck!
