I wish that I could share in your joy.

My work in identifying significant and critical bugs went unrewarded.

The basic, fundamental graphics 2D commands still broken after more than a year.

Nothing fixed of significance for me, and all show stoppers remain. :(

Oh well, maybe next year at least one of the show stoppers will get fixed?

Hi heartbone,
I'm not that happy as you might think.
I'm aware that Linux didn't get any 'dones' for years. When the current fixing cycle started I checked all three OSs. For MAC one could find two and for Windows loads.

I'm also aware that nearly only new bugs are regarded and very basic issues like e.g. the '..NoCase'-problem might stay forever. Plus I see the different time-amounts of attention.

But I also see that Fred is continuously very busy and we are only in round 1 and there is still a way to go. So no point to give up hope yet and rather welcome what's been done and support the iron while it's hot.

On a sidenote:
I too tried to find out how an independant, external font could be loaded in Linux. No way - I couldn't find a single idea/hint for a solution. But I found at least three requests for help by you and none got any kind of support.

That is just strange to assume that there had never been anybody able to do it nor any interest to achieve it. ... but maybe we'll end up lucky with an 'awesome thread'

Done bug reports are regularly cleared from the public forums. Counting the number of posts says nothing.

Also, the volume of bugreports is much higher in the Windows section, because pretty much all bugs that affect all platforms are usually reported in the Windows section, but when they get fixed, the Linux version is improved as well.

Thanks for clarifying.
I know that threads get cleared at times, but not the conditions. And I also thought that a good amount of win-bug-fixes concern all OSs anyway without needing to point that out.

Still a direct comparision of the bug forums, which in itself is valid to do, will give or strengthen the impression that the developements might vary a lot. Maybe this disadvantaging effect should be concidered with the circumstances of thread-clearing?

Doing a quick search, all I can find from you is rants about how the PB font lib is wrong, but no question about registering fonts. Sometimes it helps to just ask directly. ;)

Doing a quick search, would it be correct to surmise that you require recognized questions to be in the Queen's English?

I do find it hard to believe that I was the first to ask for this information, else I would have been more formal. Sorry about that.

I don't require anything, but neither am I required to do anything.

You make its sound like just because you or somebody else asked a question, I somehow have an obligation to provide a solution simply because I might know it. An attitude like that almost makes me regret having spend the time to research the solution and posting it in the first place.

Please don't be. :)

However, what you could think about system. I mean, whole bunch of great code/tips/hits/ideas come around here all the time, and it just seems pretty lame to post millions of <AOL> like posts with thanks and appreciation, without actual contribution to the thread!

link ==> karma/thank-you

Looks funny and a good way to massage egos !

It would be nice and therapeutic. :)

But it seems to being pushed under the rug after the initial excitement ==> http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... 803#p90803

It's cruel to implement a further fighting, an unfair comparison and additional sublime sign of rank hierarchy, while suppressing a vivid communication between humans.
Further it never says where a thank belongs to and disables to notice something works well or to follow the implied recommendation.

You're pleased too exaggeratedly moan about in your eyes superfluous postings while you yourself missuse a reply to push your own agenda and leading a thread offtopic.

Please think twice and don't raise yourself to rule over the basic needs of thousands of members.

Attitude?

The only question I've posted that you could claim that I may have posted for you (to ignore) is, "Oh well, maybe next year at least one of the show stoppers will get fixed?".
Therefore Timo, your projected feelings that I thought that you were obligated to help answer any of my coding questions, has to have originated entirely in your head.
I've never directly asked for your help, and I've never expected any programming help from you.

After her friendly commiserating with me in this thread about my lack of joy, my expression of appreciation to Vera for her excellent results in getting our wish fulfilled was sincere and appropriate.
I'd already genuinely thanked you in the other thread for supplying the font information, it was a nice surprise, no regrets there.

From my perspective I have done nothing to you to deserve your mis-characterizations and scorn.
Of course I refuted your insinuation that I did not directly ask the forum for a method to embed fonts in Linux executables, I've asked a few times.
Sure, after once again being greatly disappointed in the point release, this time I posted a link to my list of not [Done] bugs.
That list of show stopping bugs in the core 2D graphics functions should have been a priority fix long ago.
It's not like I've been posting every month about it, and I have been more than patient.
Timo, it's flat out wrong to shoot at this messenger, instead if you embrace the message I'm sure that the whole PureBasic community will benefit from it.

Maybe there's a translation problem with your not knowing the meaning of the word rant because I could not find any sources for your "rants about how the PB font lib is wrong" characterization of some of my postings.
Perhaps if you weren't such a busy man, I'd ask you to provide the post links so I could learn from your perspective.
But seriously Timo, it really isn't that important, it's just that some here might think it's true, because you took the time to post it.
Keep it BASIC.

Perhaps you are not aware, but your statement (in your quotes) can easily be read as a sarcastic whine. It is possible you did not intend for that, but it is very easy for an outsider to see how Freak is unpleased with your attitude--intended or not.
