MemPad
MemPad
Hello,
I am currently testing MemPad. impressive. nice work. Quick simple. just what I need. that said I think a 64-bit version would be much faster. is this possible? I have not found on the official website (http://www.horstmuc.de/wmem.htm) of the author ...
thank you.

Hi Coolman,
that's the program I love most of all
Why not send him a mail and ask him if it could be compiled as x64 - you'll surely get a friendly reply.

the answer (if there's answer it) to be interesting for other users MemPad ...
though. it's weird that nobody has asked the question before. a 64-bit version would be a more ...
I used before SoftNote a little slow at startup while MemPad starts instantly with a database of approximately 3.5 mo ... I even generated a database of about 20 mo for testing. it's still fast ...

Re: MemPad
Hello Coolman,
I couldn't use an x64 version but I would desperately like one to run on Linux
Yes I too never saw problems with large databases though none of mine extended 8mb yet.
I'd like to share two tips:
- you could assign your own mp-typ, register it and add it to the default contextmenu. Then you can quickly create an mp-database in any folder working independant from the main program (and its settings etc.)
- if you're assigning PopSel to the launcher-button/shortcut you can extend your link-targets incredibly - it's just great.
Hope you're lucky to hear that MemPad is in progress to apear as 64-bit version one day.
cheers ~ Vera

Thank you for the tips. I created different directories for several data bases. Then I created shortcuts to these directories and it works very well. I used to throw the shortcuts BMenu a program that I designed with lazarus / freepascal. for those it might interest. retrievable here (free) :

on linux. MemPad is portable. so it should be used quite easily with Wine. but a linux version would be better...

Re: MemPad
Dito ~ thanks for your offer
Though still being on XP Iwould have liked to give your BMenu a try, but after finding that DL-link (which took some time) I wasn't allowed to get it.
Seems one has to be a member on that side, which doesn't make it free.
Nevermind ... I've started developing my own launcher the other day
cheers ~ Vera

Re: MemPad
Hello Coolman,
I much appreciate your offer but that page also doesn't give me the download link. I'm always redirected to a second page where I have to wait a minute each time until that nag-advertisment vanishes and afterwards there's no offered link but only that box wanting me to leave my mail-address to sign up first.
I tried it 4 times but there was no change in their behaviour.
You could use http://www.datafilehost.com/ or http://www.file-upload.net/ which work good and also provide a delete link.

Re: MemPad
I am currently testing a similar program cherrytree MemPad but much more sophisticated. is programmed in python. I was expecting a slow but speed program is satisfactory. there there's even an import feature compatible with MemPad. I would use MemPad for simple basics and cherrytree for databases with images ...
The program is available in portable version. this is in addition opensource ...
