How to edit existing .pb files

Post by BenBublil »

Hello guys, first of all I want to say that I'm totally new to PureBasic, so don't laugh if the question is funny :D
I want to edit some .pb files I got. I need to know how to open those files to be able to edit the code.
When I open the file, it opens the File Viewer with it, but I don't want that, I want the code to be opened instead.
How do I do that?
Thank you, hope to hear from you guys soon!

download PureBasic http://www.purebasic.com/download.php
This is a demo version or just go ahead and buy it.

install it and it will register itself to open pb code files then you can edit them.

pb files are text files, so you can edit them with any text editor, e.g. notepad. But why do you want to edit them without the PureBasic IDE?

The thing is, it's not a normal text file. It has many many weird symbols in it, like the computer doesn't know what is it, it's far from understandable..
I bet you know what I mean. Maybe the files I have are not normal .pb files? I don't know. You tell me guys!

If this helps, here's what the Notepad opens for me (some of the symbols cannot be written in this post):

Hi,

that's not a PureBasic sourcecode file.

Can one of you see the file? To try to understand what it is? It's super weird, it has a .pb in its title..

"button_top.pb"
It is not PB source file (only .pb extension??). If you have installed Pure Basic, then the .pb source file will be opened with PB IDE. Try using some example from PB Help.

Google: "File Format List pb"

Alphabetical list of filename extensions (M–R) > P:

Code: Select all

Ext. Description Used by
----------------------------------------------
PB Fax FAXability Plus
PB Phonebook WinFax Pro
PB Proboard Conf. files Proboard
PB Setup file PixBase
Are you using one of this programs?

I think I solved it.
These files are compiled files of PB. Not the actual source code!
What do you guys think?

Don't think so. That is not an *.exe-File.
There are some hints that it has to do something with graphics:
"edge_righ", "door_right", "edge_left", "door_left", "SCENE_OPEN".

I was trying to extract an iTunes app an old friend of mine has published.
He doesn't have them anymore, since he deleted them from the computer.
That's why I thought it was compiled files!

Any answers?

i think we can not help you with that. its obviously not a PureBasic file.
try to search on the internet to a 'itunes app viewer' or something.
