Not a flame, just an 'Off Topic' suggestion.

Post by heartbone »

Psychophanta created a thread yesterday
http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... 17&t=61436
in the appropriate forum section, which did NOT violate the forum's rules.

Code: Select all

No flame wars
No religious posts
No sexual or offensive posts

Thanks and have fun ! 8)
1) Thanks Psychophanta, I appreciated your sharing that information. The evil kabbal's censorship is truly overwhelming.
2) Perhaps the rules should be amended to add the obvious.

No posts that might offend "the powers that be" and their sheeple.

Otherwise people like me will be offended by what seems to be an arbitrary and repressive restriction by the site's webmaster.
Thanks for reading.
Keep it BASIC.

Well, it is perfectly understandable why Fred doesn't want topics like this on
a forum for programmers. There are better places to discuss things like that.

And in addition, Fred doesn't even need to explain himself. It's his site and he
decides what information is stored on his servers since he has the responsibility. :)

Hello heartbone,

please realize that no censorship has occured, as the postings and links are unchanged and still available.

Unfortunately the topic can lead to a discussion that has quickly to do with belief-systems and thus is too inappropriate on a programer's forum.

Besides the quoted forum-rules there's one you've missed. The host can do with his forum / platform ... whatever he likes and this without any remark or justification.

We are welcomed guests on this open board and have to accept its specific practices.

Don't worry - choose to be happy ~ Vera

Well, this pretty much is a religious topic... for Psychophanta anyway. So closing it was spot on.

Its an easy fix:
No flame wars
No religious or political posts
No sexual or offensive posts

Thanks and have fun ! 8)
Would that make you happy?

Conspiracy theories actually IS a religion for some people. Some people explain everything happening in the world with a new conspiracy theorie.

That's a good idea.

You might want to consider also adding "No medical posts".
That would prevent self-proclaimed "experts" from posting quackery propaganda (which has the potential to damage the health of people who are naive enough to believe in it). Well ... for many believers this is also a religious topic, so it might be already covered by the current rules. :)

Well.. when I saw the subject of the vid I didn't want to watch it. That's all I really have to say on it other than I'm glad it's locked.

That would be a more accurate set of rules.
And yes freak, truthful postings versus misleading ones, tend to make me happier.

You do know that in many ways PureBasic could be considered a religion.
So posts about that particular topic should not be made in the 'Off Topic' section. ;)

Peace.

For those Posts, we have a codesection :) So no Posts in Off Topic :D

We believe in Fred. He gives us our Purebasic every day. In France,- and in other countries, too. :D

The main reason, why such discussion are not wished in this Forum, is, that this is a programer Forum. Fred wants to sell Purebasic (Why not?) and it´s not good for new potential customers to see discussion about religions, mysterious ideas,... .

Watch out, Danilo's in on it! His answer's a double-bluff trying to put us off his scent, I bet he's been sent here to spy on us. Yes, of course, that's how come he knows all the answers to our coding questions! They're trying to make us dependant on him, then when we're vulnerable, like a baby on its mother's teat, BAM!

Ooh, I'm on to you Danilo, I know what you're up to... :x

@heartbone,
There is not so important some people ignore symptoms of social-sickness,
There is not so important some people call this conspiracy,
There is not so important some people call this religion,
There is not so important some people call this policy,
There is not so important some people ignore evidences and proofs,
etc.

There are much more important, hard and interesting fact:
the fact that still there are lot of people who really believe those who manage the behaviour and social roles of most people, do nothing to maintain their powers as is.

Thanks heartbone, for your acknowledge and knowledge! 8)

PD:
Well, this pretty much is a religious topic...
