MSN Messenger

Post by Psychophanta »

Some days ago, MSN Messenger started not to work.
Error code: '80072efd'

Tested with different PCs and at different connection places.

I think is MSN physical servers... :?
Does someone know about it?

TNX in advance! :)

You're still using MSN messenger? Wow...
Anyway, Microsoft has announced a long, long time ago that MSN services will be shut down / merged together
with Skype services. So I guess you're out of luck.

I use MSN messenger and ICQ.
Skype is not an alternative, mainly because it eats a lot of innecesary machine resources.

Well, then I guess you will have to look for another alternative.
I'm actually amazed MSN still worked until recently.

....They kept it running a while longer than planned because it was popular in China. Now it's not popular in China!
Take a look at 'QQ International', it is similar to MSN Messenger and still going strong.
QQ though will likely be replaced itself in a couple of years as it's cousin 'We Chat' is already more popular.

If it sounds simple, you have not grasped the complexity.

I personally don't like QQ. It provides a lot of functionality, yes, but overall it is awful and ugly.
The mobile version is better, though. Weixin on the other hand is pure gold, really like that one. :)
(If you don't mind the fact that both services are provided by a Chinese company ).

I think Psychophanta should try to give Skype another go, it might have improved (not that it is any better security wise).
I don't know any non-Asians that are actually using QQ and not that many use Weixin, so that might be a factor here to be considered.
