I would like to help you out on this. Looks like you have worked pretty hard on this. I have no use for it now but maybe later I might. All and all, very nice from the information that I got from your site. Nice job on your site as well, looks customer friendly.
EDIT
Maybe you don't plan to add this or maybe I'm not seeing it from the screen shots but what about shipping?
There's a screen for price and cost. If you were to add shipping, a place for weight would be nice to add next to price and cost. Then somewhere a price for weight (ex. this amount for each pound). Then a screen where billing is, add the total weight (for shipping cost) to include with total product cost plus tax. Of course not adding tax to shipping cost.

Shipping wasn't added at first but I'm thinking it might be needed.. I think I'll feature creep that in there!

Karbon,
Again, I've no use for it but I do have to comment on the quality of presenttion. Very nice.
You state that there is no need for a phone, or to wait for a modem, when processing a credit card.
I don't much about this, but I'm guessing that you still have to connect to an online service to validate the card. I can't imagine how this could be done off line.
By this do you mean that the transaction takes place over an internet connection rather than having to dial directly into the providers own service?
If I'm right, you might want to make this explicit because somebody might get the wrong idea and start complaining.

Very nice!
The only reason why I suggested weight is because, lets say you always ship UPS and lets say the lowest amount for shipping is 1 pound and it's $2. Now if you have a product and it weighs 0.5 pounds and you charge $2 for shipping, what if they buy 2 of this product. Now they are being over charged. They are paying $4 instead of $2.
Also on tax, it's not always 6%. I'm sure you've seen when you buy a product somewhere it says tax is 6% but if you live in lets say texas and california tax is 7% (as an example). So you might want to look in to this and make it adjustable.
I like it though, keep up the good work.

You got me thinking - I think I'll integrate my whole UPS shipping calculator. I basically wrote a custom version of worldship for another client so know UPS's system well..J. Baker wrote:Very nice!![]()

hummm. countries!
Nice website. Nice program too. But... Is it only for americans?
If it is, dont read this. If it is for all countries in the world, notice this:
When you make a new country, you MUST select a state. Only US states. You should make that list disabled when user have chosed another country than US. And you MUST put a ZIP code. In Denmark where i come from, we dont have ZIP codes. And that was not great, that i needed to chose a random state and needed to type 0 in the box.
I dont know if this was wrong to post, because i dont know if it is for all countries or just the USA

Since I'm in the US it is very US-centric... My problem with making it international is that I don't know enough to do so! I don't know enough about VAT and all that to incorporate it... If you would like to let me know what I need to change to make it usable for you please do, I'm always open for suggestions (and I'm up for opening it up for use outside the US!)..

hello
Hi!
Ok. This is for the "new company" dialog box. The State should be disabled when country is not USA. You could make a listbox for countries instead of a textbox. Zip is not used too, where i come from (Denmark). But we use postal codes instead. That should be the new company box. You could also make a tick checkbox with the label "Outside US". and when outside, state combo is disabled, and zip is disabled and a new box, postal code is enabled. Just a suggestion though
VAT is 25%

Note sure where you are pitching the product, or who you are targetting as your market, so ignore the below if off course or you have it and I couldn't find it:
VAT/GST/Etc can be a parameter somewhere, use/don't_use and percentage methods.
Some (used to) have changes at certain levels of purchase. Don't think this is the case anymore though.
Some methods require (or used to) calculation on cost, some on sale price, some maybe on difference between.
Have region files for countries. For many, getting the state/province/territory and zip/postcode info is merely visiting their post office website where the lists are downloadable. On startup, offer supported countries.
When creating new company, first time, suggest default save position is in a data folder under the installation folder.
Quantity breaks on pricing (and if you really want to get hairy, different types of customers with different break levels based on qty, or invoice amount, etc).
Validation to ensure things like phone number cannot be "qwerty" and credit card number cannot be 1 2 3
Flexible reporting, sort of like HTML templates for DB driven sites would be neat and would make for more sales.
More, if you want to be competitive out there!
This sort of stuff was my bread and butter (too) many years ago. AR/AP/Inventory/Billing (boring but it can pay if you are willing to customise and have inbuilt flexibility).
Pretty neat to date. Some minor eye candy, perhaps. (All purchasing decisions have a significant emotional component, believe it or not).
(PS: Not looking for free copy, just some thoughts).
